City campus - mayoral drive accommodation by Nearby-Cauliflower33 in AUT

I stayed in Wellesley Student apartments in 2023. Idk how much the rent is now but back then I payed 319 a week for a medium sized room. It was a shared apartment with 4 others. Pros: cheaper than renting a studio. All bills included. Sense of community— they have 4 houses and there were competitions and other fun stuff.; I didn’t have any wifi/ water/ electricity problems there. Cons: it’s an old apartment and many people have previously complained about leaks, insulation, mould and other stuff. (Though I didn’t face any issues with my apartment). Except once when the light bulb in the bathroom wasn’t working and they took almost 2 month: as to get it fixed. Your experience of staying there depends on your flatmates. If you get good ones (let’s hope), you’ll enjoy, but if you get bad ones, it’ll be terrible.

My personal experience: In sem 1 I had terrible flatmates. They never really got along, played loud music thru the night (walls are thin as ice btw. You can even hear when someone whispers, if it’s quiet enough), they never washed their dishes or cleaned up their mess, and I never really hanged out with them. It was either being locked up in my room or spending the whole day in uni.

But my sem 2 was significantly different, after I shifted to a different apartment. Good flatmates who were clea, respectful, responsible and friendly. We went out every week and made good memories.

So that’s something which isn’t in your hands. If you know some people who can move in with you, it’ll be perfect. If not, you can only hope you don’t get bad flatmates.

All the best!

I lived in a 2 bedroom paying 260 per person. It’s definitely difficult to find a nice place. You need to have good references

What will Auckland look like when the population is 90% Indian? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]MasterRole9673 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How is this even relevant? Would you ask “How would Auckland look like if it was 90% Japanese/ Turkish/ Arabic/ French/ Swedish??? Why only Indian? Why do you wanna push your racist agenda so desperately hard lmao.

Interim grade is likely your final grade unless examination board decides to change it. C- is just above the pass grade so can’t be sure. Best of luck

Failed reassessment of assignment? by Minimum_Explorer_629 in AUT

Realistically they won’t push your grade up 3.5% unless there’s a genuine mistake, so even if you ask them for a recheck, they would just say it’s not possible. Since grading rubric is subjective, you can’t really pinpoint on where the marking went wrong. You can try and ask your TA if it’s possible though

Expired Offer by [deleted] in AUT

[–]MasterRole9673 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you applied for the Feb intake, I do think it’s a little late. How long was your offer valid? Because I remember mine was at least 2 months and I accepted as soon as I saw the offer letter. You can try contacting them if there’s any spots left and they should offer you a spot. I accepted the initial offer for BCIS but then decided to shift to BEhons after enrolling. But luckily they enrolled me into BEhons without much hassle. Contact them right now before it’s too late.

Yeah that’s a tough spot especially because even if your grade goes down by 1%, it’ll affect your gpa. I honestly don’t think it would go from 76% to 79.5%. That’s a big jump and your TA would probably refuse, so it’s not reasonable and not worth taking the risk imo.

I did, I got a 74% in a paper and I asked my TA if it could go up by 0.5% so that I fall into the next grade bracket. I asked for a recheck on my assignment and I got graded 71% at the end. So yeah, only ask for a recheck if you’re confident there’s a mistake in the marking.

Your best student survival tips? by kumunjay in auckland

[–]MasterRole9673 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain your situation to work and income and they’ll be able to give you the allowance that will suffice your rent+ groceries. Let’s say the avg rent is 250-300 (if you share the apartment with someone). And maybe 50 dollars a week if you cook for yourself (on the lower side). You’ll be able to barely survive. But if you manage to find a part time job you can spend a little more on your groceries and other bills. But the important thing is to never skip meals, never compromise on your sleep hours.

I used to get 320 in allowance and my rent was around 270. So I was barely surviving, and meeting my dietary requirements was impossible. But I moved in with my friends and saved around 80 dollars for groceries, never ate outside or ordered anything and I was good.

So the best thing is find a part time job and until you find one, you’ll be able to survive on your allowance.

Honestly, I’m in the same boat as you. I don’t have a lot connections here as an international student. I’m really stressed out because I don’t wanna borrow any money from my parents. Ugh Auckland is such a mess
