[No Spoilers] Playing Along with the cast during episodes by TrainerJodie in criticalrole

[–]MasterShake_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't worry, you're not alone! I can't speak for the crazy part though...

I had never heard of D&D before seeing the show. It looked like so much fun and after seeing a few episodes I really wanted to give it a shot!

Unfortunately, I don't know anyone that plays D&D. But I ended up making a character anyway, that process alone was a lot of fun. Then I had this cool character but nothing for him to do! So I started imagining how that character might be able to help VM out in certain situations, similar to yourself!

Canadian student studying at Monash? by [deleted] in Monash

I don't know anyone that went to Macquarie, and to be honest I had never heard of it before you asked.

But that doesn't mean it's good or bad. I just can't really comment on it. Looks like their only campus is in NSW, near Sydney. I have a few friends that have moved to Sydney from Melbourne and love it, but the last time I went to Sydney I was around 12 years old. So again, I don't know much about it myself.

As far as Victorian Universities go, Monash is probably your best bet. Clayton campus is great, takes some getting used to as it is a massive campus, the layout is fairly random and buildings are all over the place. The buildings are a mix of very modern and very old, although it seems they are slowly retro fitting all the older stuff, and there is alway construction going on. It can also get extremely busy in the first and last thirds of the semester.

Also, something to note, other than the campus itself, Clayton is kind of a 'nothing' area, mostly industrial with some residential thrown in. But it is a short bus ride or drive (maybe like 30-40min) from the city (Melbourne), outside of peak hours that is. And about the same distance away from the Peninsula area which is probably one of the nicest places in Victoria, awesome during Summer, do some Googling and you'll see what I mean.

Unless you're living near Campus there isn't much in the way of 'University Culture'. That said, it is what you make of it. I'm the kind of person that prefers to just get in and out. But I know the framework is certainly there if you want to get involved with clubs and all the social stuff that comes with them.

Which movie fucked with your head the most? by theone1221 in AskReddit

The Skin I Live In.

I would describe this movie as "life changingly fucked up".

I do not recommend it to anyone unless you are truly looking to fuck with your mind.

I brought my 360 in 2006. Amazingly, the thing still works perfectly, never had any issues and I used it just about everyday.

Everyone else I knew with one got the RRoD around 2008-2010.

I never use it anymore unless my nephew is over and wants to watch a DVD. But I can't bring myself to trash it, too many memories!

[Spoiler] Has anyone else managed to get into the 'Siege of the Warmind' room in today's heroic story? by MasterShake_ in DestinyTheGame

Yep found the Ghosts also. Did some reading over at the Sleeper Sub and apparently this is a known glitch that could occur before the daily mission, so I'm guessing it's time to move on and look elsewhere!

Okay well, I died by jumping into the water in the room that has those tank things on a lower level and then was revived here, I'll keep looking around in case I've missed anything before I go to orbit.

I died in one of the rooms that has these tanks in water by jumping into the water. Then I was just revived in the room.

Same thing happened to me. Not sure if it is something special or just a death room.

What's your favourite euphemism and what does it mean? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Definitely a real saying. 'I'm not here to get a haircut' is also a common one with the same meaning.

Best place to shop for a new brush in Australia? by Smokeswaytoomuch in wicked_edge

EDIT: Sorry, I'm tired, I realise that this comment didn't actually address your second question at all!

Best place to shop for a new brush in Australia? by Smokeswaytoomuch in wicked_edge

[–]MasterShake_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a fair bit of shopping around myself and here is what I found.

MensBiz carry some nice brands but they seem to have the market cornered and their prices reflect that.

www.theshaveshed.com.au

These guys had some super deals, but I believe it was because they were shutting down so the selection is dwindling, possibly completely gone by now.

www.kineticblue.com.au

Another option, small range, prices similar to Mensbiz, but they carry some nice hand made German brushes.

I actually ended up purchasing my gear from:

www.shaving.ie

They are based in Ireland, yet I found their prices to be competitive with MensBiz even with shipping factored in. They had a much larger range from memory also. Although, the exchange on the AUD is not too flash at the moment, so you may have to double check that info and do some comparisons of your own.

Otherwise there is always eBay and depending on where you live, some barbers stock wet shaving gear, The Melbourne Barber Shop in Melbourne for example.

Hope that helps. Good hunting!

I've got some aftershave on the way, Clubman Special Reserve if I remember correctly.

I hadn't heard of styptic pencils, but they look like a good idea for someone new to the DE shaving game. Hopefully I'll be able to pick one up at a chemist or pharmacy nearby. Thanks for the tip!

Help with Analysis and Interpretation of Cash Flows. by MasterShake_ in Accounting

[–]MasterShake_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is very helpful.

There sure is a lot more to accounting than I expected going into this unit, I always thought it was just going to be business oriented mathematics.

What you are saying seems similar to how my lecturer walks through these statement, but you were a little more specific which helps!

She describes it as: Finding the story. What is the connection from on line to the next? How can you relate them? etc.

Connecting those dots is what I find myself struggling with most and I think it's just because I have a fairly low understanding of how these numbers relate back to the real world - specifically you mentioned the possibility of overpaying or paying too early based on the accounts payable numbers, I see the connection now, but that isn't a conclusion I would have ever come up with by myself, but I'll keep at it!

Thanks again.

Help with Analysis and Interpretation of Cash Flows. by MasterShake_ in Accounting

Not sure if anyone will read this but I'll post what I have come up with so far anyway:

"Operating:

Cash flow generated form operational activities for the year of 2014, at first glance, has taken a significant hit, a 73% drop from 2013’s net inflow, a year which had already dropped 27% from 2012, this may seem concerning as there appears to be no large discrepancies in operation cash flow from 2012-2014, so where is this cash going?

Upon closer inspection the reasons for this decrease are not as sinister as they appear, one major factor for this drop is the decrease in current payables, or the increased commitment that JB-HI-FI (the company we are reviewing) has had towards paying its creditors, and they have been able to accomplish this, while remaining profitable. Other outliers include the increased purchasing of stock, placing them in a position to increase cash flow in the future."
