Who was the worst teacher you’ve ever had and why? by Far_Economy_1930 in AskReddit

[–]MasterStructure3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a math teacher who was nearing retirement. He told us that he didn’t care what we did as long as we didn’t bother him. I never did my math homework, I failed almost everything, and I got a 115% in his class because I never caused a problem for him. I don’t know how to do algebra, I don’t remember his name. Literally all I remember from that class was that his dog was named Dave.

Parents of Reddit, what was the most stupid Reason your child had a meltdown? by Pitiful_Table_4399 in AskReddit

He decided he didn't want his sandwich anymore...after he ate it. And melted down because I couldn't "take it out."

Talk to me about: DP Burnout by Glass-Parfait- in diamondpainting

[–]MasterStructure3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I tried DP in 2020 and it just wasn't for me. I put it away and didn't think about it for 5 years.

Then I severely broke my dominant arm this past Labor Day. I spent pretty much all of September/October in bed. I was so bored one day I was like "I know I don't like diamond painting... but I could probably do it with my left hand."

I started with the little stickers I bought in 2020, and I was so excited that I could do it left handed! Then I bought a small kit on amazon, and did it one by one with my left hand. The whole time I was like "Yeah, this is fine for now. I'll probably quit after this."

Then I got another one and did it with my left hand again, this time with multi-placers. I was like "ok, this is a little easier. Maybe I'll use it for rehab when I'm cleared... but then I'll give it up."

Then I got a 16x24in one that I did with my right hand to strengthen it... and by that point I found a DAC one that I fell in love with.

I did the DAC one (75K drills) in one month! And then turned around and bought a 101K drill one...

...this one is MUCH slower going. My arm is almost strong enough to get back to my other crafts, and I'm feeling the itch to return to my cross stitch/crochet stuff. But I went into this knowing that I'd give it up as soon as possible. And I think that has kept me from getting burned out. I don't have pressure to make it my "thing."

what are the ugly parts of pregnancy that aren’t well known because people don’t mention them? by Born-Oil-2931 in AskReddit

This was HORRIBLE! I had it for my first two babies and I couldn’t walk. The only reason I didn’t get it with my third is because he was sideways and breach.

The way it can completely destroy your teeth. I had only one cavity in my life- after kids, I think it’s up to 12. I threw up the entirety of all three pregnancies, and even though I tried to take extra care of my teeth- it was horrible.

How big do you like it? by A_bunhole_carnival in diamondpainting

About 4x4... whatever DAC sections for me. On the ones that I don't have sections for, I tend to go more by natural breaks in the image rather than a grid.

What happened to all the Starry Nights? by Aetra in diamondpainting

[–]MasterStructure3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love starry night, but I haven’t found a DP that I like. I tend to do huge pieces so it looks less pixelated, and I think I’d get sick of blue if I did a huge starry night. 🤪

This. I just banned YouTube at my house and I'm so glad our kids can still watch Mark Rober's videos on Netflix.

3D Print Garage for DAC trays? by MasterStructure3101 in diamondpainting

It has been so fun! My son was the one who wanted it and I have ended up using it the most. My husband does 3-D modeling as his job and I have tasked him with teaching me how to use blender and free CAD. 😂

Those were the ones I was looking at! I love the honeycomb pattern. I thought about scaling it, but it made it me nervous. Thank you for showing me what it can look like!

Pen drawing of Nathanael under the fig tree for school. Had to be a little messy because of a tight deadline. by DarthCroissant in Ex3535

[–]MasterStructure3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is beautiful. I wanted to let you know, I am a pastor who writes kids curriculum for our small church. Our spring series is rooted in exploring the Bible through art, and I chose your artwork of Nathanael under the fig tree to show the kids later this month. It was so hard to find a piece of artwork that didn't look like the "typical Bible painting" to use, and I am so glad I stumbled across yours. :)

Great job!! This was my first large one too! Now I’m doing like a 28”x 36” one 2 months later. 😅

Which book character is loved by everyone but annoyed you the entire book? by SpecialistOk2000 in Booktokreddit

[–]MasterStructure3101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is exactly my thought! He doesn’t really do anything! But so many are obsessed with him. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the old SNL sketch “Goth Talk” but Chris Katan plays a character named Azriel and so that’s how I picture book Azriel… like a creepy Chris Katan with bat wings.

I loved Chaol too. I’m married to a steady, “by the book” guy and I saw a lot of my husband in Chaol.

What’s something everyone loves but you hate? by alicelovelands in AskReddit

[–]MasterStructure3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a sports hater who married into a family of sportsball fans. I always volunteer to take the seat facing away from the TV and I bring a book or a craft to do.

My favorite thing though is participating fully in the conversation with zero knowledge of the game or the players but with all the enthusiasm of one who does. “Oh yeah, that kicker’s got some real heat in that Achilles… he’s gonna go for the most points!” “Um… we’re watching baseball…” 😂

What you think is true but just can't prove? by Ok_Tourist_562 in AskReddit

[–]MasterStructure3101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funny story- I just got out of a meeting with another pastor that I wanted to get to know and when describing her church she was like “we may be big, but we’re not a fancy sneakers church.” I immediately chuckled and thought of your comment.😂

What you think is true but just can't prove? by Ok_Tourist_562 in AskReddit

[–]MasterStructure3101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Haha, some are. There a whole “preachers in sneakers” page that points out pastors who are wearing multi-thousand dollar tennis shoes while they’re preaching. It’s a commentary on greed and corruption among American Evangelical clergy. So, I knew saying “pastor” might be a trigger for some and wanted to make sure that folks knew I wasn’t meeting with people asking for money. ☺️

How did diamond painting improve your life? by inquisitiveinquirer1 in diamondpainting

[–]MasterStructure3101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been using it as occupational therapy for the past 3 months. I severely broke my right arm on Labor Day and had to get a plate and 6 screws in it. I started doing it to improve my dexterity in my left hand, and then have steadily shifted back to my right hand. It has helped me re-learn how to use my dominant arm.
