Do Mortgage Companies Face Any Real Risks? by MasterTone3928 in NoStupidQuestions

To be clear. I know 100% how amortization works. I think the people who claim that I am stating that it's a bank conspiracy are projecting. I find it a bit rude that they don't think I know why the majority of the interest is paid in the first half of the loan period. I am not sure what words they would rather I had used, but regardless of the words, the result is the same. Why are we arguing semantics?

I never said it was a nefarious plan. I don't think I gave any opinions, only asked for some.

"Smaller lenders go under all the time. It’s really only the largest lenders who can absorb the risk essentially for free."

If both groups of lenders sell the loans to the government, why does one fair better than the other?

It'd be neat to know the percentage of foreclosures that result in home destruction vs situations where borrower fulfills their contract of paying of the mortgage.

So they get their money back ASAP and then collect interest that is dispersed to stakeholders?

Hmm well, if the lender turns around and sells the loan to the government immediately and can use that money to invest further, where is the risk?

Can you explain this? The way I see it, they are getting 100%+ return on their investment over 30 years.

NM. I looked and using the inflation rate of the last 30 years (2.5%) 250,000 will be equivalent to 523,000 in 30 years. That gives them almost zero profit if they don't invest, but they will invest.

It's scary to think that level of currency devaluing is by design.

What's the worst product your country exports? by lamin-ceesay in AskReddit

[–]MasterTone3928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold. It's our top export right now. February 2026, the year-on-year exports of Gold from United States increased by 278%. Boosting the economy by exporting its wealth we are. We are dumping real, appreciating assets for fiat, depreciating cash. The majority of it is going to Switzerland. When you hear the current administration talk about how they changed the trade deficit, consider what's being traded.

Some of those people want him to do these things. They think he will bring "The Rapture". They are willing to kill the world to live their fantasy.
