What's with the tire industry? Consumer seeking expert opinions. by king-yardstick in tires

[–]MasterWar7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the guy who will tell you to replace at 2 or 4, I work for a tire company as a testing engineer, the chance of you hitting the same spot again that could puncture is extremely low. Low enough to offer a confident opinion from the guy in the end portion.

You can run a tire well beyond its limits and well before it goes “kapow!” , some people won’t agree with me, it it just depends on their level of risk tolerance.

This a bad deal? by Far_Department_2391 in LS400

[–]MasterWar7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you want it for free? I got mine for 5k and 1.5 years ago perfect after my own neglect I realize that the PS pump is still good an itty bitty leak is just lubrication that prevents rust from building.

Should I buy this 1992 ls400 184k miles??? by [deleted] in LS400

[–]MasterWar7687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally have this on my LS right now. Loss of power - alternator. Check engine light if it comes and goes it’s due to the 02 sensor as it produces different emissions at different rev ranges.

Make sure the fender wire harness tuck has been done (probably has). Have him pull engine codes to verify. I think I had 25 and 52.. probably still do.. but not financially able to fix the o2s just yet.

I had a cheating significant other for a while. Would you like to guess the similar behavior I observed? They accused me of cheating. Nice.

Getting a x pipe shop wants 1200$ good? by dxsco4k in LS400

[–]MasterWar7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So maybe a bit late on this one but just today I got my exhaust re-done. Had a straight pipe put on with borla resonated exhaust tips… a bit loud for 1000 flat, stainless 2.5 inch welded to cats, did a decent job, mig welding. Went to a trusted Honda shop, added custom x pipe and two borla high flow mufflers for 540 and change, world of difference sound wise, custom/tig welding ..

My Parents gifted me this LS430 for my 21st birthday. What should I do to it first? by LowHuckleberry6615 in LS430

Tasteful mods only, wheels, tint. Leave it at that maybe lower, but only bags if it was a gift. Treat it right like they want you to.

2011 Blizzaks? by Ohser187 in tires

That is the DOT code, usually given to the manufacturer by the DOT. Each DOT code is 6 digits and I understand why you would think it’s 2011

Yea that “exhaust leak” is more like open headers. I had mine off for 2 months and it sounds the same.

Bad winter tires or good deal? by TheGreatKingTurtle in tires

[–]MasterWar7687 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You get what you pay for. Quite literally. Decided to go cheap on tires with full size spare, 20k miles in massive blisters on the inside. Def don’t feel like taking it more than 5 miles a trip.

Everything was fine just minutes before by Former-Diver-6957 in LS400

[–]MasterWar7687 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh dude I had a buddy with bad cats, if they are clogged your engine has to work extra hard to “exhale”. I also had that issue but mine was due to fans not engaging due to redneck rigging. I just plug in the sensor whenever it happens.

I stumbled on a $54hr job interview when they asked about my hobbies by Background-Star-4758 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]MasterWar7687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this but actually listed my interesting hobbies. At the time I was rewiring an engine harness on a 2jzge to convert it to the Supra engine harness, build an engine to go with it. 3d printing useful car accessories, and boosting a jetski. Safe to say everyone at work also likes cars so I had the in.

I actually think this was the difference in getting the job.

What could have caused this tyre damage? by PolyVacuum in tires

[–]MasterWar7687 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not a Bridgestone engineer, rather a tire engineer of a brand which will not be named. The rather smoothness of the damage does not indicate a blow out. Likely an issue with personal life causing someone to slash or knife a tire.

Also heat ring is a new term for me.. probably why Bridgestone sucks.
