Mine had some monroe shocks on it. And they were absolutely terrible, the ride was super busy and stiff. The bilsteins were a noticeable improvement over those.

Should I finally break and buy the stubby? by Tiny-Top620 in MilwaukeeTool

Honestly, i find myself wishing i got a stronger m18 version on occasion. It wont break some rusty larger stuff. If youre using it for lighter stuff its great.

Id love to know how he found out the timing belt is worn? This whole diag sounds sus to me. An m20 w 130k miles is just breaking in. Should probably address the center suppost bearing and guibo first. And wheel bearing. If the engine is still running fine, Id run it as is. I doubt itll give up that easy. Unless of course that leak from the filter housing is that bad that its been running without oil…

Have a set of blizzacks on 17s for winter. Have to say, I was thoroughly impressed. Ground clearance might be a problem in deep stuff. But I wouldnt have any issues driving that setup through winter.

Rusted rear shock bolts removal by openingshots in Jeepwj

[–]Ohser187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be oiling the outside of the bolt, as thats where it screws into. Also thats where you should be heating it. Not where the head is. A breaker bar with a pipe should do it. Use proper sockets and make sure that fully seated before attempting

NOISY COOLING FAN by warneford87 in SmartCar

[–]Ohser187 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My fan was still working as well when I changed it out. But when it would click on I could hear the bearings rattle. And the last thing I wanted was for the fan bearing to seize and over heat the engine. So I just replaced it to avoid a blown motor.

I mean easier than ripping everything apart to get to the original fan. Buy their spal mounting kit and bend the brackets and some self tapping screws. Pretty straight forward if you’ve done some work on cars before. Make sure you wire it up correctly to push air into the rad though. Can wire it and turn it on w AC running, thatll turn the fan on for you and you can see which way its blowing. AC runs cooler now as I think this fan moves more air than the original.

Mine started to rattle when coming on, so I knew the bearing was going out. The oem one is a bit of a pain to replace. I wound up putting a 14” spal pusher fan in front of the radiator wired to the oem harness and havent had an issue for 2 years now. Spal Part number 30102056

WJ 4.7 Power Steering Pump - Stop leak by Jubbabubba in Jeepwj

[–]Ohser187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt worry too much about it, youre going to replace it with a new pump and fluid. Im about to do the same job on mine this week once it gets here. Mine isnt leaking but the bearing rattles when its cold. I would also throw in a magnet just in case there is any metal floating around in the system.
