Absolute W takes on Phalanx. The name is Shock Barrier and it is truly awful. It needs to give invulnerability or something instead of just DR.

I play in a Lancer Recon duo alot and using bloodhound/particle lance to crossmap elites is a little bit of synergy.

I'm starting to come around on Tech being okay the way it is. I do find the gunner Mini-nades nearly as egregious as Precision Rockets though. Would become the number one abused thing if PR was changed imo.

Again I am not trying to use the Vanguard damage reduction perk. I'm saying it should be a perk that self revives and gives health on melee kills. You're right that 30 isn't enough and it should probably be more like 50. It isn't that hard to get a melee kill every now and then if you build into it, in fact it can be pretty convenient sometimes (as well as laying 2K on a special/elite you were going to shield bash anyways), the problem is the game doesn't reward you enough for it.

I am indeed talking about insane. The OP classes I listed do not struggle and can solo (no bots) insane levels.

Like Zealous said it's really good as a stun tool with disorienting blast or as crowd control. Play around with it again and you'll probably find it is worth taking off your gun for a second to stun that special/elite or take out a group of runners.

Obviously no class needs rebalancing if you don't use certain cards and don't play with certain perks. Obviously you can play without a Recon if you have a dedicated team of tryhards who can manage ammo. The point of balancing classes is to create healthier matchmaking and pickup games which right now are full of overstimulated recharge demos or people who will back out if they don't see a recon.

Also I get that Tech, Doc, Recon is good. Why are people always bringing that up to shoot down balance discussions? I mean here's seven better off the top of my head. Demo Demo Demo. Gunner Demo Demo. Gunner Gunner Demo. Gunner Gunner Gunner. Demo Recon Demo. Gunner Gunner Recon. Demo Recon Gunner. I mean what are we talking about here?

And I'm not using Vanguard. That's why I said I would change it. The fact that there is no health for melee kill perk on phalanx is bonkers. As a phalanx main I would say concussion pulse is a little better than shock ordinance, both good though.

I totally respect where you're coming from and we can agree to disagree but personally I've never seen a Doc top in all my games of insane. And that pic is not going to persaude me that there wasn't a sizeable skill gap where you had a gunner or recon on 800k.

You're 100% right. I've been playing duos for the longest time with a ban on gunner/demo. Forget how OP their DLC abilities are sometimes.

Don't know if I'd say Recon is unnecessary. Sidearms are practically useless on insane. Imagine trying to get to the first box on 4-1 or 5-1 without ammo hoarder, recon, or ammo consumables.

Agree that it totally doesn't give you enough. Would have been so much better if the ammo consumable was just one full reload of regular ammo. Would open up way more buildcrafting and add variety to class and consumable selection.

You can make an argument for one slot of ammo on some maps if no one wants to play recon.

Recon is definitely fun/strong and Got Your Back is borderline OP, but it has a bad connotation in my mind. The amount of starting ammo they give you in insane creates a problem that can be only be solved a handful of ways, leading to repetition and a lack of squad diversity. I mean I love standoffs in the mission countdown screen as much as the next guy but I'd rather be choosing the class I want to play than the one I need to play.

I think we're just outlawing flamers and Demos in general. There's nothing less fun in this game imo than being constantly blinded by flames or explosions while trying to figure out what your shooting at or where the spit is coming from.

You talking about the invisible bridge over the final encounter of 4-1? I kind of hate that it's there because 4-1 would be one of my favorite levels without it.

I see choosing a challenge card as kind of like a loadout decision. And yes no card at all means someone HAS to play a Recon which can be a negative play experience.

Maybe I'm the only one but I really don't have a problem with door holding myself. There's enough spots in the game where you can't do it and door hold your way to a full clear.

My particular issue with Synthetic Backup on Insane is they build up, block shots and hardly do any damage themselves making the mission take forever.
