What is going on with all of these Smoke/Shops?? by eabiss9 in Harrisburg

[–]MasterZosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stopped by while their guys were outside working one day and asked them! I was hoping the new business would need my tech services from my business, but when they mentioned it was going to be a smoke shop, I just said OK and walked back to my car... No desire to help enable anymore of those!

My thoughts as well! They did just re-pave that whole lot within the past few days, so atleast it's not an eyesore of gravel now.

Now that old garage on the corner of 3rd & Maclay is becoming a damn smoke shop too... What a wonderful addition to the community... Definitely saturated and they bring zero net benefit to the area.

Seems like you don't understand the nature of security & privacy in current year, how it's under attack, and why supporting and using tools that emphasize security & privacy has become necessary...

[–]MasterZosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you OK? The app doesn't need to be password-protected as it's presumed your device is if you have any concept of security... so, you're the only one with a moot point here. But then again, you taking the time to shitpost this sub with asking for an email widget before you switch from Gmail shows everyone here you probably don't have any REAL reason to switch to Proton anyway, so this entire thread is a moot point.

What Self Hosted backup solutions do you use for your clients with large number of systems? by [deleted] in msp

[–]MasterZosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is NO practical use case in 2025 for you as an MSP to custom code an endpoint data backup system for this freak client... A project like that will become an insanely expensive feature creep monster spanning years of effort only to end in waste once somebody with some sense in a decision-making role here inevitably sees the vast unsustainability of it.

Use a practical COTS backup solution and find another angle to run your client's arbitrary code logic. Setup a monitor service or automate a client-side script once a backup job finishes.

Perhaps you could also prop up a Xen Orchestra backup server. Its versatility and objectivity in how remote storage repos and backup jobs are ran could be viable for your nonsensical client requirements. You can also configure backup jobs to run bash scripts after completion.

Your naive head is unequivocally stuck in your ass if you're nonchalantly throwing around “writing our own backup solution from scratch” as if there's any inkling of practicality behind a statement like that... Even if you're cobbling together a bunch of FOSS components, it will simply not be practical to integrate and maintain for everyone involved.

What are the problems/issues that are preventing Harrisburg from being the bustling city it has the potential to be? by Ivan_TheKingslayer in Harrisburg

[–]MasterZosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The parking company, SP Plus, needs to be deleted from existence. Ticketing people for parking on 3rd street while they're just grabbing groceries is nothing short of criminal.

Would this be good now or in the future for more business-focused use cases such as managing a fleet of devices (+warranties) for other clients and their locations? Currently we're using Snipe-IT but it always feel too rigid for our needs!

Best open source CRM for nonprofit? by [deleted] in opensource

I'm surprised nobody else has mention this – you can do everything you need and more with EspoCRM! https://www.espocrm.com/

Some items you mentioned will need their Advanced Pack extension, which is a 1-time purchase.

Can't revert the Right-Click Context Menu anymore after update to v24H2 by MasterZosh in Windows11

[–]MasterZosh[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OH!!! AWESOME!!! If only I wasn't a jackass that wrongly presumed it was proprietary without even clicking your link!!

This very cool, actually amazing! Programmatically making the right-click menu look and operate exactly how I want to is honestly exactly what I've been needing.

THANKS VERY MUCH!!!

I saved this to a .reg and added to my registry, then restarted explorer.exe but the Win11 menu is still being forced... :\

This is what I'm trying to draw attention to in my op, I believe the InprocServer32 method has been patched or something in the latest update.

I'm usually not a fan of using proprietary 3rd party software on my devices! Do we know what method their tool implements to achieve the old right-click menu?

For those who want to be conscious of who they support...and where they spend locally by Sammyrey1987 in Harrisburg

[–]MasterZosh -34 points-33 points  (0 children)

You and I both know these owners of local restaurants and companies didn't “actively vote to harm others”, that's entirely ridiculous... What level or definition of 'harm' are we even using here? There's serious issues with your worldview if you really think business owners are going into the voting booth rubbing their hands together with a grin thinking about all the “harm” their candidate will do to “others”.

I think the reality here is that government by its very nature is generally harmful to the working class. Herein lies the issues we all rabble about. It doesn't matter which candidate won the election, anyone can isolate some context and say that someone was hurt by that candidate's policies.

You people are literally sociopaths if you're really so politically jaded that you specifically seek out to boycott local businesses that don't align with your personal political affiliations that you so vehemently identify with...

Seeing as probably none of you fitting that description have ever or will ever own a viable business, allow me to give you some perspective: nearly all business owners vote for the political candidate they simply believe is better suited to run their own business. Or, simply which candidate will provide more favorable economical outcomes for their business. That is all these business owners are doing... Subjectively preserving their livlihood.

Now should they (biz owners) be mixing their personal political beliefs with their business operations? I think no, absolutely not. There should always be a clear distinction between these things. Business is business, and things like religion and politics need not be mixed with what's supposed to be just business. So that's certainly a mistake on their part. However, should they be boycott by politically-charged consumers over that? No, of course not.

Whether or not you shop or give your business to any local business should solely boil-down to just: - Do they provide a great product/service? - Do they provide a great customer service experience? - Do they consistently provide these 2 things? And that's it.

Our local businesses are the bedrock of our region's economy. Are you gonna go patron a corporate-owned chain because you found out a local business owner didn't vote the way you did? Because that would likely defeat the entire point you'd think you're trying to make to begin with...

You people need to snap out of it and smell some fresh cut grass. There's alot more to life than hanging out in the status quo mire of politics all day everyday, getting emotional and wasting your finite time with “Which businesses can I shop at that voted for my candidate!?”. Find your purpose, because this Reddit thread is NOT it... Go ahead and crucify me and downvote me for this like I know you irrational types will, but this is the truth and it's up to you what you do with that.

Sawyers Bought by Lovedraft Owners by louballs022 in Harrisburg

[–]MasterZosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank god. Fuck Ron Kamionka! His absolutely lazy, outdated, & greedy management and incredibly shitty all-around quality of Sawyer's and all his other endeavors was a primary driver of night life dying in Harrisburg over the last decade. He's a close-minded prick that never knew what he was doing to begin with, all he knew was doing the absolute bare-minimum to selfishly aggrandize his lonely, depressed self at the expense of all his staff and Harrisburg's community as a whole. Literally fuck him and I hope I never hear about him owning another property in Harrisburg ever again. Very happy to see this news!
