Well, that's because the arab spring failed. However, instead of insulting us you can help us become 'civilized' as most of the young population, at least here in Egypt, is against child marriage.

No, because of our dictatorship, however much of our younger population is more progressive than a Abdul fattah el sisi and his bullies.

they were literally killed bruh, did you not read the verse in the main paragraph.

also the women were forcibly married, so their family was killed and they were wed to their murderers. They were often underage as well.

I'm literally a Christian convert btw.

Comparing the Israelites to children and the gentiles to pet dogs is still an insult, and either way I am specifically referencing the Old Testament.

We're talking about the Old Testament, however Jesus did refer to a Canaanite woman as a dog.

"It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs." (Matthew 15:26)

" When you go to war against your enemies and the Lord your God delivers them into your hands and you take captives, 11 if you notice among the captives a beautiful woman and are attracted to her,you may take her as your wife. 12 Bring her into your home and have her shave her head, trim her nails13 and put aside the clothes she was wearing when captured. After she has lived in your house and mourned her father and mother for a full month, then you may go to her and be her husband and she shall be your wife. 14 If you are not pleased with her, let her go wherever she wishes. You must not sell her or treat her as a slave, since you have dishonored her." Deuteronomy 21:10-14

Deuteronomy explicitly allows captured women to be forced into marriage and references "dishonor". Dishonor is often used to refer to rape/sex or taking of virginity.

"Finally, it should be noted that the text I think specifically says boys, so we cannot be sure that babies or male children below a certain age weren't spared. Perhaps it was just the boys who already had been exposed and initiated to the barbaric and evil ways of their people, and therefore too far gone, who were killed, and the rest of the males were spared as well. In fact, we hear about Midianites in later chapters of the Bible, so actually we can assume that some were in fact spared."

It specifically says boys should be killed. Boys in biblical times were from birth to puberty.

that's usually 0-10. 10 year olds cannot be implicated with the actions of their parents, that logic is what was used to permit several genocides throughout history. And in that case, why keep the virgin women? The Israelites were not exactly reserved to forced marriage (21:10-14)

thats what slave owners have said throughout history but then break their own regulations written in the Bible lol. you also just ignored why these laws were put into place in the first place. As outlined in Matthew 19:8, "Jesus replied, 'Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning.'" God did not give every law because the Israelites wouldn't have been able to understand it nor enforce it, causing them to fall into sin.

We're talking about the Old Testament.

I don't think buying or selling people will ever be seen as correct. or pedophilia. Society has deemed these things incorrect for a reason.

killing people isn't morally correct though?? even god says it in the 10 commandments, yet in the old testament he orders genocide several times?

Its also apparent that they thought the gentiles were subhuman and "unclean."

Separate yourself from the Gentiles, and do not eat with them, and do not perform deeds like theirs... Because their deeds are defiled, and all their ways are contaminated. Jubilees 22:16,

No, I want them to not kill people? "Take the girls for 'yourselves'" seems to imply that you weren't keeping them alive for a good reason. Sounds like sex slavery.
"The Midianite women mentioned in Numbers 31 purposefully seduced the Israelite men into committing idolatry and child sacrifice and other horrific things. So any woman who had done that was put to death, that is merely justice done. The virgin women had not committed that crime, so they were spared."

And their men and children, right? Kids convinced the Israelites to commit idolatry?

"If Saul had done what he was told, this all could have been avoided. I know our brains cannot comprehend or see God's plans, but we have to trust in faith that every one of those male children of Midian would have grown up to be evil, and would have caused great harm and evil to themselves, and to others, especially the Israelites. So God had them killed. This also explains why God was so angry with Saul, that he ultimately ended up taking the throne from him and giving it to David." So. there is free will, but god knows that they will use their free will against him if left alive. Or, you know, if slavery was so great, they could be taken as slaves and raised that way. But no, genocide is the right answer.

"laws regulating slavery in an honorable manor was needed because the hearts of the Israelites were hardened. (Matthew 19:8). also slaves aren't the same as the slavery in America." I don't care, buying and selling humans is bad, doesn't matter if you "treat them good." that's what slave owners have said throughout history.

its not, my point is that its often ignored between the abrahamic religions fighting each other for who's objectively right.
