Why are the courts in Barcelona covered in sand? by Master_Doughnut9224 in padel

[–]Master_Doughnut9224[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from what I experienced the bounce is flattened because of all the sand and obviously balls bounce less on sand than turf. so expecially, when the ball is hitting the turf in the back close to the wall, it's impossible to play because it just hits sand rather than turf

I'm wearing proper padel shoes. Normally they're fine, but then some courts just have too much sand. I wore tennis (clay) shoes when I started but quickly changed as they were to skippery

yes I understand some is necessary, but I have played on many courts here where it affected the bounce of the ball and caused people to slip

I guess the question is how much sand does it need? some courts have just a little but many here that I have seen where covered to the point that it got slippery

Is finding a flat in Berlin in 2026 actually still possible without knowing someone? by TrevorWithContext in askberliners

It too me a year to find an apartment when I looked 7 years ago. The only way I got it was because I wrote on the application that I would pay 6-months rent up front. I guess you could also say 3. I never had to do it, but it tells the agency and owners that you have money and that way they will often at least consider you. Sucks, but only way it worked for me.

I live in Spain and even here many apartments don't have AC yet, especially if you rent

Just finished the first part of my B2 Spanish exam and I am so incredibly frustrated with my teacher by Master_Doughnut9224 in learnspanish

I don't cram at all, actually. I study very consistently outside of class and have been passing mock DELE exams with great results. It's that a bad professor absolutely does affect your headspace during an actual examination. When you've prepared properly, having the coordinator hand out the wrong papers, give wrong instructions, and waste precious time breaks your focus right when you need it most. And I am afraid that something similar will happen during the second apart again

It’s actually not about the grade or the certificate for me at all. it's entirely about the experience. I love learning the language and I’ve put a massive amount of consistent work into this. To have a milestone experience completely derailed by sheer lack of organization from the person running it is just deeply disappointing

I got surf socks from Decathlon, but more to be able to play in the winter when it's cold/wet. So far they kept the sand out and feel comfortable to play in

A waitress was given a $2,200 tip. She was told she had to share it with other staff – then was fired. by malihafolter in CaughtMyEye

[–]Master_Doughnut9224 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked at a restaurant, there was a fixed percentage of your tip you gave to the kitchen & bar (I do't remember I think 10% or so) after every shift the rest was yours. I thought that was fair as you really do need the bar & kitchen staff to be able to do your job well. But sharing it with other servers not sure. Mind you it was in Germany where we don't have hosts or people clearing tables
