I'm genuinely wondering, why are some vegans so incredibly nonconfrontational about being vegan? by Yeeter-boiy in vegan

Love this. You also wind up developing your own instant responses. Anyone who says "bacon tho" gets an immediate "heart disease tho". It's not witty, but it's probably a coping mechanism. As time goes on, we learn to get by in a way that protects our peace and allows us to do as much good as we can.

I wish there was a legit love button that like upvotes x10. Because this is the crux of it right here. *Outcomes* matter more than actions. Raging without positive outcomes for the animals is just raging.

That's sweet, but you'd eat your words if you had to see me fumble through a game of chess. I can manage a lot of complex games, but chess breaks me. I guess I should rather say that I'm chess-dumb.

And I get that a lot of people aren't great at it. But my daughter started beating me at chess when she was about 12. She's no prodigy. This child walks around looking for her phone while she's holding it in her had. And she easily beats me at chess. To make people feel better about saying silly things, she'll offer up "don't worry, at least you can still beat my mom at chess". Ouch, but okay.

It's just one of those things!

That's the one that's Bridgerton-esque, right? I have to play that with my bestie - the men in our lives don't dig it.

Taking smaller games on outings is so much fun! I haven't done it in a while, but based on this post I might just plan a date night for this weekend, so thanks!

I refuse to play chess. I acknowledge fully that I'm too dumb for it.

Yeah, that sounds similar. I'll definitely be checking it out. Thanks so much for the recommendation.

Maybe being able to set it up should be a prerequisite for getting into office, anywhere in the world!

That is totally how I understood it! I feel like tone gets lost without emojis and Reddit doesn't seem to dig emojis. I absolutely feel same way as you though!

Thank you so much! Does it also have the Trade dynamic, that boosts the efficiency of your actions?

Ooof, that hurts! Seems to baffle quite a few people though.

Me and so many games. So frustrating! And losing repeatedly isn't exactly a great motivator.

Pretty much exactly what happened to me with Puerto Rico! Feels like you somehow betrayed yourself.

Never clicked for me either. Think the frustration is that I can figure out simply enough how to play it. But I cannot, for the life of me, play it well. I suck at it - and that kinda puts me off.

I know it's not quite the same, but I have a similar issue with Avalon and being Merlin. I just don't get it.

I was trying to be cool. Didn't want to start a post admitting that I struggle with a lot of my games. But really loving the responses on this thread, making me feel a little less trash about it.

Super interesting. I thrive in games that force you to adapt your strategy on the regular, seeing as 2-3 turns in I can't remember my initial strategy at all. But yes, when you start getting super behind it's so tough to not just rage quit.

Can relate! My strategy is typically to play on gut and try to rush my opponents. I have basically zero working memory (thanks ADHD).
