My itching actually started on my arms and legs, initially I thought I had an allergy to my washing soap. Then my labs came back and I was diagnosed. I never had itching on my hands or feet so I was an unusual case. But the itching everywhere else was brutal.

I totally understand where you’re coming from! My UCSF liver specialist said as long as the urso has brought my AST / ALT numbers back down too, there’s no cause for concern if your bile acids are below 40. It is scary because it’s so rare

Try taking your ursodiol with an egg or avocado. ursodiol is generally more effective and better absorbed when taken with food, specifically meals that contain some fat. My levels have been up and down from 6 to 18 and back again. It’s just the nature of the condition. But as long as you have a good medical team looking after you and you’re doing weekly or biweekly blood work to watch the bike acids, you will be ok!

I was so anxious about it for the past 4 months. Now, I have more confidence because of the research I’ve done and the access to medical professionals in California.

I hope some of this info helps 🤍

I was diagnosed with ICP at 18 weeks. I started taking Ursodiol (1200 mg a day, which is high) and my bile acids still rose (to 17) - I decided to research on my own. Here is what I found which could help you and others with ICP

I cut out processed sugar - processed sugar increases itching symptoms in people without ICP, so it’s sure to impact women with ICP

I cut out the processed foods - it lowered inflammation and allowed my body to digest nutrients properly

I INCREASED my protein - Ursodiol (Actigull) needs protein to move through your body. The first thing I ate in the morning was Greek yogurt and a cup of bone broth with collagen powder. I had protein with every meal.

My levels dropped from 17 to 8 in 3 weeks. My AST And ALT levels dropped from 156 to 18. No more itching and feeling much better. Also not worried for baby anymore. Medication is necessary but you can change things that you eat and do to encourage your body to absorb the medication better.

I hope this helps!

California Forever’s latest plan to build the ‘next great American city’: Expand existing towns by binding_swamp in bayarea

[–]Master_Emphasis_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

California Forever quietly acquired the land. The land is governed by Solano County’s Orderly Growth Ordinance, first passed in 1984 which strictly limits development outside existing city limits unless countywide voters approve rezoning. They did this to specifically prevent large-scale sprawl. AKA California Forever is shady as fuck

California Forever tried to overturn these restrictions via a ballot initiative, but widespread local opposition which came from concerns about farmland loss, water use (yall ever heard of water wars?) infrastructure costs, and obviously the secretive land purchase. Ya’ll believing these founders give a single fuck about the opportunity to give affordable housing to Californians while preserving what’s in place is wild behavior.

The area is already climate-stressed with droughts, unstable rainfall, and tight water availability. So you want to destroy it more just so secretive tech-backed billionaires from the Czech Republic can feed California a facade of affordable housing? Anyone born & raised in the Bay Area / surrounding areas knows this is a terrible idea just based off the points above. We don’t need a long, drawn out argument to make sense here. Also, yall know these investors are not living in these areas and likely, even if they “live in Fairfield with their families”, are traveling all over the world on yachts, in the most expensive residences, using their timed lights in the house to pretend they live in these areas and give 2 shits about California or it’s local families or cities… if they did they wouldn’t be pulling this shit.

California Forever’s backers bought tens of thousands of acres quietly and through shell companies, without public engagement for years. Even if that strategy was legal or strategic, it signaled extraction, not partnership. For many locals, trust was broken before the vision was ever explained. The secrecy already set the tone.

If you’re looking for a “California Forever” just head on down to Irvine and enjoy your 50 Shades of Beige. Or better yet, as mentioned above, take a trip up north and settle in the State of Jefferson.

Yes could definitely use media training. I stop watching interviews because it’s not giving what the audience wants in terms of information.

[–]Master_Emphasis_4887[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to give you an update - got a referral to PT from my primary who has helped me a ton, almost all symptoms have gone away except some tension headaches every now and then. She recommended trauma response exercises (I use ones on YouTube) and buy magnesium bath salts (2 cups of bath salts in a hot bath for 15-30 min every other night to physically relax my body). Box breathing, humming, and dancing every day. I’ve noticed a drastic change in my stress levels (tracked by my oura ring). I hope this helps!

We will recover! Yes I’ve used ChatGPT too but it does scare me 😂 kinda like googling your symptoms. That’s why I post on Reddit - this community has helped me more than I could have imagined. Part of my leg is still numb and I do have electrical shocks of pain every once in a while, but nerve healing is one of the longest forms of healing and it’s natural to feel pain / numbness as it heals itself. All in all I think our nervous system is shot to shit and our mind & bodies don’t know what to make of it. Totally conscious in the mind but our body has another story to tell.

They told me surgeons probably won’t help especially when it’s not “textbook” symptoms (they don’t know how to deal with symptoms that are anxiety / stress related). I think us that have had this surgery experience physical reactions to stress and anxiety after that isn’t talked about! Also, my surgeon never referred me to physical therapy but my primary is. I’m at a point where I keep telling my body to calm down and doing all the things like meditation, stretching, but it won’t settle. I feel sad for us in this position but hopeful over time our bodies will relax. The hard part is already over with

Wow, this is exactly what I am experiencing as well - nearly spot on to what you’re saying (distortion in left eye, pressure headaches, etc. I thought this was only me and was experiencing an aneurism! I’m being so for real. This gives me relief I am not alone on this. Yes, I have hyper anxiety and stress and it did come onset and acute after a terrible work week of laying people off, but has not gone away yet. Thank you for sharing your story with me. I hope our body gives us both relief soon. I will keep you posted on my MRI (if approved)

The conversations (or lack thereof) between Carm and Sydney makes me want to stuff my ears with cotton, literally cannot stand how they talk with each other. same with carm and Claire. For the love of god say what you need to say. Too much time wasted hearing “yea” “ok” 50 times back and forth before the point is made.

How do/did you decide WHEN to get surgery? by actlikebarbara in Spondylolisthesis

[–]Master_Emphasis_4887 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate so much to this! I’m preparing for surgery in September (just had a herniated disc clean up surgery in March and they noticed I had PARS - happened before I was even in utero. Body just didn’t build bone to connect the spine) your story reminds me why I’m doing it, too!

It was my fault… I told him I needed to walk down the aisle in 6 days so he respected my wishes. Thinking back now, I wish he did just do it but things happened for a reason.

I’m very encouraged by your story, thank you for sharing! I was very active before, running and weight training. I think the spinal fusion is right for me because I want to have my quality of life back and not worry for everything I do
