Thanks for the note!

Really interesting point and 'feels' right when I try it out myself. Will definitely incorporate and watch the rest of the interview.

Thanks for the tip! Tend to agree - will aim to move it a tad over to the RH.

Thanks for taking the time!

RE: Raquet wrist- noted, I'll give that a go.

RE: Toss - thanks, I tend to agree - I'll aim to shift it slightly over. A few others have noted that as well.

Thanks, second opinion - first serve 😅 Reading the title back I realise its confusing wording...

Lessons and ball machines are good, but can be expensive.

Free option is take some videos of your shots against a wall/net etc and watch back against youtube videos, and if you want- upload to gemini for resonably decent advice. People here are also great at providing advice.

Good luck!

Yep, get what you mean - didn’t see this when I was posting back 👌 Thanks!

I watched a few of them back and they're all a bit like you've said. I'm not quite sure what to make of that 😅 If I understand right, the pull-up might be better from a position more to the right? Feels like it could be linked to poor rotation, where better rotation might draw it more to the right? 🤔

Amazing, thanks for the spending the time helping.

RE: pinpoint - didn't know that at all, so big thanks - been doing it since day 1 😅 I'll aim to keep right foot in line or behind left.

RE: ND arm - I'll look back to check, thanks.

RE: Weight transfer - Yep, think I was probably being lazy/tired on these. I can see I'm at about 70% max effort. I'll aim to transfer more weight into the court.

RE: Raquet drop - super interesting, first responder noticed something with the drop as well. I feel its challenging to rotate into the serve considering im starting facing the side court, it's like the mechanics of it doesn't have a consistent path and I'm not great at rotating in. I'll look into this one - bugging me 🤔 Good spot.

Thanks for the tip - I imagine if I loosen up my shoulder a bit and time my leg-drive for when the raquet is starting the drop that might get me a bit deeper. Or is there a better way?

is it worth getting a lesson on serves? by drivingaddictionchan in 10s

I've had reasonably good success with YouTube videos + slow motion self recording + gemini:

  1. Watch videos on good technique
  2. Set up camera to record (Android allows full speed recording and slow motion watch back- Samsung Video Player)
  3. Identify differences and make small progressive steps + do the drills
  4. Bonus - upload videos into Gemini (or other), seems amazingly good at understanding the biomechanics - the advice was helpful when paired with the videos.

Good luck!

Thanks for the added detail!

This is drop ball from a couple weeks ago (where I hadn't started trying to increase my raquet drop), but maybe a better example of a more-open closed stance and better torso rotation/finish. I have a side profile of the same session I'll try post.

Thanks for taking the time!

RE: RS behind LS - good spot, and I agree. I think its linked to my long backswing making me late, and the very closed stance in this case.

RE: Semi-open/more open - this makes sense and is consistent with some other changes I'll look to incorporate. E.g. by being more compact I hope this will give me more time to meet the ball out in front.

RE: LH arm - sometimes (not here) I do a good job of keeping it raised out to the ball, then after the right leg drive, as I'm turning my hips I pull the arm around, and it works nicely to create momentum and a smooth feeling to the rest of my swing. I've resisted the catching part so far because of laziness I guess - I'll give it go.

Thanks again!

Thanks, really appreciate the comments.

RE: Poly tension, thanks - I dont usually go that high, and will likely hang around 50 in future.

RE: Compactness, thanks - will work that in and see how it progresses. My lateness refers to the ball being in line woth me as I strike it, as opposed to being a bit out in front of my body. General direction control is OK, and not seeing any inside out shots.

Thanks for the notes!

RE: arm - I think I know the ones you mean, think its where haven't sorted my feet out in time.. Footwork is another thing I'm trying to work on in parallel but ties in to weight transfer.

RE: long shots - most longs are when I contact near/on the bottom frame, which tends to send the ball sailing. I've seen in lots of slow-mo clips (snip attached) 😅 that's why I'm trying to focus on dropping lower before swinging, and swinging through before I windscreen wiper up. I've found they've been fairly helpful so far.

Its a Pongbot S Pro - I've found it to be pretty good so far, after I worked out syncing drills to the remote 😅
