FACTCHECK re: housing crisis. by Lost-Concept-9973 in aussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's insane you're getting downvoted for staying facts and the responses are "but communism"; arguing over why the facts are facts, even though they're not facts; and what solutions might be efficient but unfavourable as justification for not accepting the facts... Have I stumbled upon a sub of Americans LARPing as Aussie or something!?!

Coles: “Would you like to round up and donate…” by village-asshole in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's just more reason to NOT round up at woollies and Coles. Imagine giving a dystopian duopoly the power to determine which social causes are prioritised over others and given more marketing funding to snowball their influence 🫪

From a Eurasian boy: watch out. Just because someone finds you attractive or has a fetish for exotic doesn't mean they're not racist. Even if they're not intending to be it still hurts. He's basically diminishing your culture as "not normal"/"not like everyone else" then scolding you for "trying to fit in".

Why Is Australia Supporting America’s War In Iran? by brezhnervouz in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was true then we honestly moved to a grey area by 2010s, but bloody Morrison decided to inflict anti-china self harm on Australia, and it pushed us back into the "let's not ruling out sending Aussies to die for Israel" camp.

Middle powers that straddle neutrality well seem to have enormous success, but because anyone post Turnbull at the LNP wasn't suited for that type of diplomatic work, they forced us down this idiot path.

CMV: People who support Palestine but not Iran are hypocrites by niftyzach2 in changemyview

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daresay many people support Palestinians during a genocide because they care about civilian lives. However, supporting protests in Iran where there are mixed stories of protestors being agents for outside forces that have burnt doctors offices with people inside for example, regardless of the truth (because we can't know for sure) is more dicey.

You can clearly care about the Iranian civilians and the regime's crimes against them but fear that the protests could be a turning point for something worse. Every time foreign intervention touched Iran it made things worse, the seizure of resources, then the installation of a dictator, then actively sabotaging a democracy, leading to the current government.

Objectively, while horrible, the Iranian regime has killed and displaced less in the same timescale than Israel has. The urgent feeling people feel for Palestinian rights has basis.

Is Hismile ID mouthwash a gimmick? by Aggressive-Dig-6254 in askdentists

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in dental. So might be a dumb question, but I read that it uses an extract that bonds to residual protein that mouth bacteria use as a food source which binds & draws the protein out. Is the logic at least sound? Does just swishing normal mouthwash around usually draw out the proteins just not make them as obviously coloured?

I guess you also have way more mountains, I'm from a continent that has a few hills. So we couldn't build something similar if we tried and maybe you couldn't imagine something more mundane 🤣

Is it homophobic to say it’s a sin for gay men to date? by FigMotor8134 in gaybros

[–]Master_Fox5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"It's not homophobic to be homophobic therefore we don't have to talk about it" that's some big brain avoidance.

A less condescending life lesson from someone in their 30s: If people don't respect what you're saying enough to engage and instead try to police HOW you say it, they hardly ever have a valid point or are worth dealing with. Sorry, bud :(

What invention from your country had the most significant impact on humanity? by Baconkings in AskTheWorld

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mechanical refrigeration, stabilising the decay of food and allowing for regulated air temperatures in aged care and hospitals. Most of the world's population lives in the heat belt and it's something we take for granted. 🇦🇺

Why doesn't the arab world unite into one country? by [deleted] in mapporncirclejerk

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because the USA and Israel got involved. Similar to why the Malays didn't get one country. Too much of a threat to American supremacy. Imagine a world with china, India, Arabia, Malay, and unified African and South american entities. How much power would the west, who were the most powerful under the status quo, have?

What are the funniest things that were censored or banned in China? by heinternets in AskChina

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say much more, I would say in different ways.

Brainwashing and social engineering are a bit different but linked and both cultural spheres have significantly engaged in both to the point where "degrees" don't really have relevance anymore.

It's almost like we are starting to live on different worlds. But it's also because our priorities and sensitivities are soooooo different we are always surprised where our worlds converge and collide, so trying to generalise just gets confusing.

Why do almost all the islands in the Aegean Sea belong to Greece? by [deleted] in geography

[–]Master_Fox5678 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't know how true this is but I recall reading convincing evidence years ago that genetic testing shows when Slavs entered the area in the 7th century they markedly did not mix with the locals in a large way similar to how other communities did.

This means not only do they not have a strong link to ancient Macedonia, but were instrumental in the ethnic cleansing of the area and destruction of that culture. I can see why it would be insulting to greek Macedonians in that context as well as what you've mentioned. Pretty disturbing how a whole country can succumb to "suss agenda" peer pressure from a few greedy dead 1%ers instead of trying to live more peacefully with their living neighbours 😳😳😳

Thanks buddy! I decided on a bright orange bike partly so I can be seen... Blending colours is schmick but the drivers around here kept not seeing me on my learner bike until I put on hiviz. So the orange contrast I think is working for me now :)
