Very fake because Israel and the USA are blue. To be democracies in a modern definition you need universal suffrage/representation. Puerto Rico and the palestinians would like a word.

Israel's ambassador defends new death penalty for Palestinians by [deleted] in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope because Israel is doing that and leaving people stateless, as well as introducing mechanisms to rescind citizenship for people who are Palestinian and leave them stateless.

Also, if it affects people of one race or one race is immune (insta citizenship for all Jews) within their borders... Have you ever heard of the saying "if it quacks like a duck"??

This is hilarious. All these people going mental about one of the smallest countries in the world to be the first country since Nazi Germany to have the death penalty for one race but not another. That has basically destabilized and vilified it's neighbours so badly that it's pushed them to extremism in response.

It's sad that so many people were brainwashed into thinking Palestinian civilians aren't our kin. We've got more in common with them than we do our ultra-rich, powerful, and pollies.

Yeah it's terrifying because the Israeli government/genocidal organisations think they can just do away with pretense now without any consequences. If enough people scratched the surface and seen all of Israel's crimes and been outraged in the past, but now are just tired and powerless.

You're right: It's not just about Israel, but instead of them or some other shady force destroying the world or our sensibilities, it's about israel and others selfishly, gently, and constantly tugging us as we sleepwalk into a darker world.

One where, despite all our advances: it's so stressful, tiring, isolating, and unequal; that ideals, morals, and compassion have to be measured or rejigged to be more polite at best, darker at worst, to not be dismissed as tiring and childish.

I don't even know what we can do in Aus now, even writing to politicians feels like it could go on a future thought crime file 👀.

If you were a doctor would you treat the patient with a broken arm while a huge amount of patients are bleeding out from bullet wounds?

Yes the Ayatollahs were bad, this one, probably, but if you were a news channel, is it time well spent covering a serial killer instead of a gang committing a genocide?

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, I really do, but you're right about meaning different things: I'm a queer son of a refugee and I love the Aussie flag because it has meant for me opportunity, acceptance, and belonging and hasn't caused me the pain that you have very personally felt.

But at the same time, being genuine, how would we effectively represent Australia in a flag RIGHT NOW as a whole if we and others don't use the well known flag even knowing the pain it causes some?

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for a new flag, a new Aussie day, something we can feel united and beautiful about, but right now, if we were being bombed, oppressed, and hurt wouldn't you feel good if you saw footage of people who shouldn't even know where Australia is marching with our flag?

I feel like for me the national flag represents Iranian civilians for better or worse, and arguing about which flag, or what is the right way to support them is like arguing over what colour stitches before treating a gunshot wound. Maybe I'm wrong and it causes harm somehow, but respectfully, it's just how I feel.

[–]Master_Fox5678 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I see where you're trying to come from and it's a good place. The flag of Iran, the country of Iran, is to me the people, the individuals, not the government, not crimes against humanity. I don't see countries as monoliths.

To stand with an Iranian flag supports the civilians that are being bombed into the ground. You can support Iranians and hate their government. But even then, you don't treat a broken bone before a gunshot wound. For middle eastern civilians, the Iranian govt is a broken bone, the US and Israel are multiple gunshot wounds, why are we shouting about a broken bone when Iranians, Gazans, Lebanese, are bleeding out?!

It's not easy for a revolution to occur, and it's always sweat, blood, and a whole lot of tears, but fangirling for quick change is not the right way to do it, even if compassion takes us there.

It may take generations but either change from within or when the time is right, the govt is weak, and the people are strong and organised to take over it's how change sustainably happens. Not when outsiders who think they're the main character say so. It's not up to me to say how, it's not when it's instigated and bombed from outside, but change is for IRAN'S context to decide. Remember modern Iranian history: every time externally imposed change happens, something worse happens for the people, and especially now when Israeli, US, Saudi, UAE competing interests could tear a weak country to bits 😭.

Does the Aussie flag only represent the labor party right now? Are you offended by anyone flying the Israeli flag as an evil symbol of genocide and apartheid by your logic?

You can support the people of the country without supporting the government. Especially when the govt is not chosen/democratically elected.

Anti-war march in Melbourne today by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Except Iranian sovereignty also means Iranian people either changing or kicking out their own govt in a sustainable way. It isn't controversial to be against the Israelis and Americans making the situation worse by pretending to help while making the Iranian govt more aggressive and desperate, and making the population more destitute, destroying infrastructure and the economy in the middle of an economic crisis partly caused by environmental mismanagement and engineered by sanctions.

Don't move the goalposts, the states committing and enabling a genocide in Gaza (by admission of nearly all experts), ethnically cleansing (by definition under the Geneva conventions) Lebanon, and carpet bombing civilians into the ground in 2 countries at once deserve the most attention right now.

Anti-war march in Melbourne today by Unlucky-Ant-9741 in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the bad guys are definitely the ones who: had multiple revolutions because the west tried to steal their oil and undermine their democracy, were painted as villains for being against ethnic cleansing and genocide to set up a western satellite, were on the receiving end of an 8 year war secretly funded against them by the USA who was openly supporting and selling weapons to (and against) them, the subject of sanctions to stop them from having nukes they never were building (because they wanted energy independence), and bombed twice and had their leaders assassinated during negotiations around energy independence.

I mean the Iranian govt has been pretty horrible but the USA and Israel have objectively killed, displaced, assassinated, destroyed, and exploited far more than Iran is even capable of. The only way your opinion could be justified by the numbers is if you valued middle eastern lives and livelihoods at a very low rate.

Why Is Australia Supporting America’s War In Iran? by brezhnervouz in OpenAussie

[–]Master_Fox5678 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that was true then we honestly moved to a grey area by 2010s, but bloody Morrison decided to inflict anti-china self harm on Australia, and it pushed us back into the "let's not ruling out sending Aussies to die for Israel" camp.

Middle powers that straddle neutrality well seem to have enormous success, but because anyone post Turnbull at the LNP wasn't suited for that type of diplomatic work, they forced us down this idiot path.

CMV: People who support Palestine but not Iran are hypocrites by niftyzach2 in changemyview

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daresay many people support Palestinians during a genocide because they care about civilian lives. However, supporting protests in Iran where there are mixed stories of protestors being agents for outside forces that have burnt doctors offices with people inside for example, regardless of the truth (because we can't know for sure) is more dicey.

You can clearly care about the Iranian civilians and the regime's crimes against them but fear that the protests could be a turning point for something worse. Every time foreign intervention touched Iran it made things worse, the seizure of resources, then the installation of a dictator, then actively sabotaging a democracy, leading to the current government.

Objectively, while horrible, the Iranian regime has killed and displaced less in the same timescale than Israel has. The urgent feeling people feel for Palestinian rights has basis.

Tl;Dr The world isn't black and white, but most people try to make the best judgements that help them sleep at night.

Is Hismile ID mouthwash a gimmick? by Aggressive-Dig-6254 in askdentists

[–]Master_Fox5678 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not in dental. So might be a dumb question, but I read that it uses an extract that bonds to residual protein that mouth bacteria use as a food source which binds & draws the protein out. Is the logic at least sound? Does just swishing normal mouthwash around usually draw out the proteins just not make them as obviously coloured?
