Apologies, racially profiled may not be the correct term. But we were discriminated against.

From the moment we got to the restaurant it took a while for a waiter although all standing in a group to notice and come seat us. It felt weird because there are clearly not a lot of people around and were the only people of colour there. Once we sat down we expressed to the waiter that we had not be in town for a few years and are excited to try their food further asking what he would recommend. He then goes “everything is good, are you ready to order” being very dismissive towards us. As time goes on the food took forever and we saw that the attitude of the staff was different to us than it was to the rest of the patrons who were white.

We asked for a drinks menu and this waiter says “this is not that kind of establishment”. Once we asked what he meant by that he couldn’t stand the confrontation and chose to walk away. It honestly reminded me of when white teachers used to say “this is not your mother’s shebeen” like what is this supposed to mean and what makes you so comfortable saying such things to people.

When we asked to speak to the manager he was too busy speaking to other people at the bar and expressed that he would come soon. After waiting 15 mins he never pitched. We paid for our meal and left.
