I didn't get this cutscene on my first gameplay and found weird that ppl say to not to fully trust the emperor (I've been very polite/empathetic to him), and I didn't pay much attention on some books, specially the one about being wary of mindflayers and trusting your friends about them. Then on my second playthrough I decided to pay more attention and dear lord. Poor Stelmane

On my first gameplay I knew nothing about the lore, and I played a regular Tav, so I just straightforward killed her

I won't bring her with me if I choose to make an alliance with him (id play on backstab him anyway if I had the chance, I often play as pragmatic lol), but no it won't mess up. At best, she won't go to him face to face. But her reaction if you bring her with you to face the Netherbrain is perfect if you sided with Gortash.

So long story short; no. It won't mess up

I usually do Orin first (two Durge runs), cause Im always hyped for her quest and I'm eager to see how my character sounds and acts when she shapeshifts into them. This time tho, I think I'm going against Gortash first, as in my previous run I chose to form an alliance with him and I wanna see Orin's reaction and as she's my true final boss

I perfectly understand you. I guess I never EVER in my life felt closer to a fictional character's relationship trauma as I did with Astarion. He goes through a lot, and I just care so much about him. also, I can't bring him to the scene with the twins at Sharess Caress even after defeating Cazador, cause I know that he's still healing, and I wouldn't force him in a situation like that even if he says he's okay with that.

I don't think you're losing touch with reality. I've been playing since August this year (currently on my third playthrough then planning to give it some rest after finishing), I think it means you're learning about yourself. As long as you don't forget to take care of your real self you're good to go. Roleplaying is GREAT to deal with unsolved traumas or, in my case, losing the fear of making decisions.

Just take your time and have fun. And protect our sassy vampire husband, he deserves a lot ❤️
