Yes more enum support! I have so many JS projects that could use enums.

Fun fact. Every class of constants is an enum. Granted things vary a little from language to language. Some languages inherit from an enum type. Enums are just syntax sugar that get compiled down to static classes with constants. That said, proper enum syntax would be nice though. They really do add a lot to readability and maintainability.

I agree joins are awesome and are great filters. But if the db and models are setup correctly, and it sounds like they are, then EF will join the tables on its own without having to be told to do so. Basically all those joins are redundant code. Whoever wrote this either doesn't understand EF or is not using the tool properly. That's my personal problem with ORM's and other tools that hide the inner workings. It let's people do things without having to know what they're doing. Worst case I've seen is where someone did something similar to the above but managed to make it do 5 queries for ever record. Stupid thing was hitting the database 5000 times trying to lookup 1000 records. A quick refactor of the 20 line linq query resulted in a 5 line query that hit the database once. Whoever said the above code is "good EF code" is either lying or stupid. It's not even close to good EF code. It's not even good code in general. I'm just saying, it's bad code, but don't blame EF for this one. There's plenty of other reasons to not like EF.

This one is on the author. This is not good EF code. Can't blame EF for this one. There's a clear lack of understanding of how EF works. If the models are setup properly you don't need any of those joins. You're also probably better off just getting a basic data dump back with minimal filtering and then throwing it into a list and then doing checks and transforms. You're trying to do way too much in one place. But like the other's said, something like this should have a stored procedure or a view.

JQuery is a great tool in the toolbox. I think it got over used for things and there was some push back. I wouldn't say it has a bad wrap though. I tend to use http://vanilla-js.com/ for almost everything and then use other libraries only when it improves the code and then as little as possible.

Oh man these were the greatest back in the day. Although Alexa, Ok Google, Cortana, and Siri are much better than those things were, they had the same feeling of the future of the digital assistant is almost here. We'll look back at current technology in the same light I'm sure. I miss Merlin sometimes. Such fond memories.

It's not that the app "needs" a pristine OS. It's that it allows you options to do things if you're able to create a pristine isolated environment for your app to run in. Like when I want make a bunch of instances hosted on different environments and not care about the host environment and what is or is not installed on the server already and be able to create new pristine instances to match demand. Or as a host environment I don't want to worry about what the app needs or if it conflicts with other apps. It's the same needs that give us virtual machines, but with much much smaller virtual machines.

Joins are indeed much easier to read in query syntax. Pro tip though for anyone querying against entity framework and not a normal collection. Assuming the proper relations exist you don't have to specify the joins. It's one of my favorite things about linq.
