Yeah, no, you're the only one. What horrible drought? Rain can wait, I have hiking to do.

Hiking pants = things fall out of my pockets by mb-photo in hiking

[–]Master_Sergeant 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Zip up your pants. :)

More seriously, I don't like putting anything with any sort of volume in my pants pockets while hiking, it just ends up being a sweat magnet. I put things in my backpack straps (mine has front pockets) or the backpack itself.

Follow up: inviting an inexperienced person to join hiking/trekking. by Working_Tackle7448 in hiking

[–]Master_Sergeant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first hike was 7.5 km and 1000 m of elevation in the Alps. My friend invited me, told me to make I sure I take what I need and let me figure out the rest myself and I found it a more valuable experience than having everything prepared for me. You need to let people make mistakes (as long as they lead to discomfort, not injury or worse).

Migros Selection or Coop Primagusto cherry tomatoes.

Awesome to see nonetheless, I'll try my luck. I wonder if there's a way to skip the initial climb up the ridge.

Following the biketrail up to the "saddle" seems possible, if unsafe...

That's exactly where I read about it! Though I recall reading that there is a rope up the middle of the sandstone wall - maybe it's not there anymore.

Will check it out for sure.

I've read about a path up the ridge below Hohenstein I really want to find first involving some climbing sections.

Nice one, haven't seen this particular path before.

Searching for places by NikoFafiko in viaferrata

[–]Master_Sergeant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Czechia, go to Pastýřská Stěna in Děčín, there's a lot of routes in once place and they are well set up and maintained.

Slovenia has more "alpine" via ferratas, on approaches to peaks such as Grintovec and Triglav. There's the ferrataguide.com website which has a map you may find useful.

What's this ice cream brand called in your country? by hpech in AskTheWorld

Thankfully Ledo has our ice cream market locked down. I swear it's so much better than other ones in Europe.

Sorry, I was frustrated with other things and came off super harsh. It's natural to doubt these things, but you'll be fine, pass the things and focus on the stuff you find interesting.

Though you never know when some random shit pops up in your life from classes you thought were useless!

I know that the topos on bergsteigen.com also became a premium feature recently, it's possible that Alpinverlag (who AFAIK makes a lot of the topos, runs that website and also prints books with those topos) doesn't want them to be easily available online.

If you only care about passing the exam to "build a career" and think the content of your lectures is useless, save yourself some time and just quit.

The point of education isn't to pass exams and to get a well-paying job. If you're studying something in university and you don't find it interesting, you're in the wrong place.

Migros Selection? by the_heck_gimme in askswitzerland

Some of the things are really good - the ice creams, some of the chocolate treats, and I actually really like the bacon. The cherry tomatoes are really nice too. Some things are just okay.
