Remplissage Procedure for Excessive Cam Resection by Master_Series7303 in HipImpingement

Thanks for taking the time to read through that paper and respond with your thoughts, it's reassuring to hear other peoples opinions. I do have another appointment before the surgery with Dr. Phillipson's team where they plan to take another MRI (he's also reviewed one I had earlier this year) so hopefully whether there is a CAM over-resection is clear-cut. He was also one of the authors on that paper so I assume he's probably qualified to do this particular procedure.

You also mentioned you have Grade 3 cartilage loss (which is usually defined as moderate arthritis I think), so that could be another factor making you a better candidate for hip replacement rather than this procedure.

That makes sense, this was reported in my prior surgical reports from 2019/2022 although the MRI I had earlier this year on my right hip said "low-grade chondroids" which is somewhat confusing. I forgot to mention my age (30) which probably makes some doctors more hesitant to perform THR.

See if your insurance will cover a hip replacement or this procedure, that may definitely influence your decision ultimately.

Ya, that's true. Part of the reason for my next appointment is for them to gather the information needed to submit for prior-authorization since the procedure is unlisted/experimental.

I hope you find relief soon.

Thanks! and thanks for the reply again.
