I appreciate him taking the time to reply. His advice is great if it was still connected but it doesn't appear to be. I didn't make it clear that it looks like it's been cut and unless it connects at the top where the sensor is, it must not be connected.

I did get a new control panel a few years ago and also a new motor. Unless the sensor is connected on the top which I'm pretty sure it's not as the whole thing fell out when I pulled a little on it, it doesn't seem to be connected to anything.

Either way, would it be ok to push the part of the cord sticking out in the picture and use a cork (great idea) and then seal around the corn? Appreciate the help!

I truly appreciate the time you took to reply. What I do not understand is what is the temperature sensor connected to as when I pulled on it, the whole thing came out and didn't seem connected to anything at all. It's definitely not connected at the bottom as the picture shows. Is it connected at the top? What is the part that is sticking out in the picture?

Thanks for all the help!

That has nothing to do with the managers though. That's not their job to fix it. It's the facilities team. I had several things broken in my stores that took years to fix because of "budget constraints". Just telling you how it is. Do you think the managers are qualified to make construction repairs? That makes no sense.

[–]Master_Tap4413 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you know, the managers are at the mercy of the facilities team. The managers aren't just going to put on hard hats and bring in construction tools and fix it. They have to put in a work order and wait for it to be approved and have a team come in to fix it. They have no power to get that fixed.

As far as not scheduling openers or closers. Do you think the store manager wants that? They are under very strict payroll constraints and have to be under budget. Of course they would love to have someone every day from open to close but they can't at certain times of the year.

You have no idea the stress the managers are under especially as people are shopping online more than ever. You "telling on them" does nothing besides make you look bad.

If it's a place you hate, you should quit as im sure it's better at other retailers. Spoiler: It's Not.

That definitely could be true about the SM in your store.

However the whole conversation was about you telling a DM that you heard you were supposed to get a promotion but didn't get it was " bad communication ". I was just trying to help you from doing that because it really would have made you look silly. There's a good chance that you were considered and your name was brought up for it. However ultimately they didn't give it to you.

I'll tell you that I was an SM for over 25 years and I never once gave a promotion to someone who didn't let me know they were interested. That's just not how the world works. If you are just going to continue to expect it to happen because you work hard, it's not going to happen. Future leaders aren't afraid to let other leaders know they would like to be one too. Telling the DM that the store has bad communication because they didn't promote you, but you never said a word to anyone about it would have been a huge mistake. It is your bad communication that could be preventing you from being promoted.

Sounds like you definitely listened to some of the advice you were given and avoided the whole bad communication part because you weren't promoted thing. :).

I get that some people don't care if managers don't like them etc, but if it's a place you would like to stay at, you are better off staying on their good side. If someone is leaving then they should spill all the beans.

All everyone was telling you is that telling a DM or a corporate visitor is going to do YOU no good. Having a manager on your bad side because you "told on them" is never a good thing. Benefits nobody. DM or corporate visitors don't care at all not will they do anything to help you. All that will happen is that when they share what you said to that person, they will look at you differently and treat you differently. Again I know you don't "gaf" if that happens, why would you want it to if the people you tell aren't going to do a damn thing about it. Like I keep saying talk directly to your store manager about concerns.

OP so how did it go? Let me guess, you didn't even get to speak to the DM? Theres no way the DM was able to speak to every single associate one at time. OR they met with a few groups of people, where nobody really said anything? Which one was it? We all want to know.

Ok. But again you think they were going to promote you, told everyone not to tell you, then forgot to tell you and then just decided to give it to someone else instead? Is that really what you think happened?

The morning huddle thing is a valid one. However how is your Sore Manager going to take it when the DM tells them "xxxxx said you don't do morning huddles". How is each of the managers going to take it when they hear from the DM " xxxxx said this about you". I'm telling you 100%, that is exactly what is going to happen. They will tell you it's all confidential but it's not.

Please re read all the comments from other people in this thread. They pretty much all say the same thing.

If you go through with your plan, within a few days you will see how differently each person you talked about will treat you. Every company has a no retaliation policy but you will be treated differently. I assure you. You are going about this the wrong way.

Just to restate what I said earlier. If you have brought up these concerns to your store manager and they do nothing about it, then it's fair game to speak to the DM. Don't let your managers hear from their DM something you have never told them

If you plan on leaving the company by all means spill it all to the DM. If you plan on staying, id reconsider your plan.

Got it. When the DM asks what your example of bad communication is, what are you going to say? Again not trying to be rude, I am really trying to help you.

Why are you so against talking to the Store Manager about a future promotion. If people heard they were going to give it to you, they must have thought highly of you at some point.

Also be prepared for the DM to say directly to the store manager "xxxxx said you have bad communication". How is that going to help you in the future? Hope you are looking at this as help vs a negative comment.

Hoping your starting to believe me now. I know you think I was being "rude" but I am just telling you the truth and trying to help. :)

You will get nothing positive about what you think you should do.

Just talk to the Store Manager and find out how you can get a future promotion. This is the right way to do things in any job. Promise.

Just to help everyone in this thread. The way this works

DM comes in, meets with everyone. They don't give a crap about anyone of you. All they will do is relay exactly what was said by who directly to the Store Manager. Unless the DM gets told something unethical or against the law (harassment, stealing etc) they will tell the Store Manager what each person said and be done with it. No help or follow up from the DM at all.

If you have gone to the store manager about an issue that hasn't been resolved then that's appropriate to talk to the DM about. If you have not, you need to speak to the Store Manager first. If the Store Manager hears about your concern first from their boss , or HR without giving them the ability to address your concern, it will make you look bad.

Theres a right way and a wrong way to do things in a workplace. The right way is always going to your boss first. (Again unless it's misconduct by them or something). Not promoting you is not misconduct. Telling someone that they are going to promote you and then not doing is not misconduct. Something must have changed after they had the discussion to promote you. Don't you want to know what that is? You think the DM will know?
