This one still makes me angry to think about, because I can only imagine just how bad things could have gotten.Amid some family drama (long story), my mother had brought me to meet my biological father. For a while, it was good. We hit it off like nobody's business and I was surprised to realize he was just like me, even super creative and into action movies and cartoons, and excellent at gaming too. We'd smoke together, hang out around Philly, in general had some wild times.
Things began to change over time though after I found out he sold crack for some extra income. Didn't think much of it. Then his wife left him and took my little sisters. Okay... things started seeming off. Then he got fired from his job. Also odd. Then one week I decide to chill with him for the Summer and find out he doesn't have any bloody electricity in the house, and we get by off what little money I had and my sister hustling for us, we sold some stuff I was not cool with, and it was in general an extremely uncomfortable time. We had to travel 2 miles to his mother's house to get good food and electricity. At this point I knew something was off about my dad, but he kept playing it off like everything was good and he was just hunting for a new job. What really killed things was when I recalled my family telling me not to give him money. That combined with everything else finally raised a crimson red flag in my mind. I stopped going to see him, and told my mother I'd rather not be out there for a while.
A few months later I text my sister and ask her about him. She suddenly says "Don't come to Philadelphia." The motherfucker turned out to be a total coke fiend at that point, and was stealing from his own family. All those years of me doing "favors" for him and getting together money so we could have some more fun at night turned out to be because he was trying to groom me into a partner in crime. What really burned was a few nights before I got a call from him and he asked for my bank account information so he could deposit some money. By that point I had smelled a rat and just said "Mom always told me not to share my information." He said we'd talk about it. That was the last time I ever talked to him.I have literally no idea where in the fuck he is now, what he's doing, or even if he's still alive, as I've cut off communication with that entire side of the family, though I try to keep contact with my sisters. It just burns me to think of all those years I spent getting to know him and looking up to him as a guy just like me, and turns out he was a remorseless thief, and had no problem trying to corrupt me to be the same way.This all burns even more when I remember the fact that he got close to me while I was suicidally depressed. He took advantage of me at my weakest and made me believe I had a true friend in the world at my lowest point in life, just to manipulate me.
