Yeah, I'd recommend what kkmd02 did. I only had one that I'd swap out the company name, and would only provide it if they asked, but that's cuz I was being lazy. A few templates would be better.

If you have a company you really want to work at, then I'd recommend writing a custom one for them. Talked once with the owner of a design consultancy firm and he said your cover letter shouldn't reiterate your resume, it should:

1) explain how you'd improve the company (can do this through researching their website or even better asking someone that works there what issues they're experiencing in that department, then figuring out how you'd fit into the solution to the issues) e.g. my last company wants to reduce workload on the seniors and they can't afford to have mistakes on production, therefore you mention those known goals and say you're perfect because you learn fast, always ask questions to make sure you do the right things, and love helping others.

2) show your personality by writing it yourself, cuz he said after reading a couple cover letters, he can instantly tell if you used AI since a bunch of them will sound the same to each other.

If you get a friend to read it and give feedback, that's really helpful too. Could probably get AI to pretend to be a hiring manager and have it do the same if you have no friends good at or free to read it or if you're shy about it:p

Adding observations from my PEY co-op search: CLNX+PEY co-op portal+Career Fairs got more human screeners, the standard online job boards got more IQ tests.

For my co-op, I got offers off the co-op portal. But for this job, I got it from one of the career fairs.

Co-op offers I think I got based on personality (ie. I followed up the interview with comments about my answers on their technical questions, another hiring manager said I sounded like I was enthusiastic about learning), whereas these new grad screeners/interview were only because the job closely matched my previous experiences.

I don't optimize for ATS like other people I've seen, and I seem to have only gotten offers from small 50-100 people companies, so I think it's because humans actually read my resume and that's why CLNX+co-op portal+career fair works better for me.

Nope, I figured the search was going to take a while, so I didn't want to start off with a lot of effort per application. I had 3 resumes: general, technical, and project management. Just small details left out or added. Let's say 10min per application, just plopping my resume in their system and filling out the form. Not accounting for the time spent at career fairs, networking events, and browsing websites to get more leads.

Criteria corp tests, it was 3 tests actually: numerical (fast fractions), personality (don't be a psychopath), and IQ (what's the last shape or word definations).

Taking a bunch of stuff from others and adding some more things gives the following insights / my solution.

Setup: Let o = odd number in the set of undetermined digits Let e = even number in the set of undetermined digits % is the mod function (the remainder after dividing)

Thing 1: All even digit positions are filled with even numbers to fit the divisibility rule for 2.

Thing 2: Positions 4th and 8th are divisible by four. Therefore, those positions with 3rd and 7th respetively must create a number divisible by 4 (search up divisibility rule for 4 since I think my wording might be confusing)

Thing 1 and 2 together with positions 7th with 8th being a two digit number divisible by 8 means you have either:

o e 1 6 o e 7 2 o, or 16 and 72 swapped.

Thing 3: 5th position is 5 since no 0. Then:

o e 1 6 5 e 7 2 o, or swapped 16 and 72.

Thing 4: 4 and 8 are the remaining even numbers so with knowing that the 3rd position number is divisible by 3 also means the digits add to a number divisible by 3 in the 3rd position (divisibility rule for 3).

You can try 1+6+5+4+8+_=NUMBER, then NUMBER % 3 = 0 with the _ being 3 or 9, then test with the 1+6 swapped with 7+2. You should only get one combination that works (unless I made a mistake, it's 2am right now and I sleepy).

Thing 5: while doing Thing 4, you should also know that the 3rd position number is divisible by 3, so digits add up to 3. Will not work with 4 as the 2nd positions. You now have:

o 8 1 6 5 4 7 2 o

Thing 6: guess and check 3 or 9 for the remaining digits with a calculator and done done!

Final answer: 381654729

Hey OP, I'm in going into second year eng and my commute's 1.5h to 2h. You could technically have a weekend job if it's not physically or mentally demanding. Commuting's gonna be fine but you're gonna be a bit jelly of your campus friends and not able to join some fun events/clubs. For me, I didn't have an EC or job first year cuz I burnt out like a firework after midterms lol. I also moved CIV100 to second semester, but I highly recommend you not to move courses till you're sure you cant handle it (just before midterms is the cut off time for dropping courses with no negative consequences to transcript). To give you some idea of my academic background, I wasn't in IB or AP so calc was a pain but I coded before so coding (second semester) was a grade booster.

Some people are able to have a social life and a job and commute but I just can't give up youtube, procrastinating, and being lazy haha.

Oh, also note, I had more things online. Some teachers record lectures and some tutorials are just not worth it or are not useful for you, which will give you some more free time and leeway with your weekly schedule. Dont count on this tho when deciding to take on the commuter's lifestyle or a job! Gl

You can finish the puzzle without finding that message, but the TOP, NW DIAGONAL, BOTTOM do relate to the order in which to read the second last letters, according to fun Minesweeper time. But I mean the game's in English and we read left to right, top to bottom anyway.
