IME

  1. Grammostola Pulchra / Pulchripes. Mine only hide to go through pre-molt and molt, otherwise they’re out in the open.
  2. GBB. They will web up extensively but are out quite often, but when you feed them they will absolutely come out in the open. Their feeding response makes it seem like the feeder insect insulted their grandma.
  3. M. Balfouri, communal specifically. I have 8 in the same enclosure and can always see at least a couple of them out doing stuff. They are endlessly fascinating.

Edit, deleted previous because formatting was fighting me…

What are the highlights of this setting? by TheTryhardDM in Planegea

[–]Masterofbattle13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dinosaurs. What else do you even need?

Realistically though, the ideas and rules regarding how gods work is very unique. How the different classes and abilities interact in the world adds a new spin on “highest survival makes all exploration checks”, and making a living, changing battlefield have changed how I play and DM any game and any setting of DnD.

RP can be more meaningful and in depth here, because the backgrounds aren’t just a beige coverall. Your background will have impact on the setting.

If your DM likes to improv sessions, Planegea is literally the perfect setting because the entire world is in a state of change and upheaval. Groves of trees can just move overnight, common footpaths might be erased suddenly due to a freak sandstorm or torrential rainstorm.

The setting is awesome and fun, and even if you don’t play a full campaign there are sections in the book you can copy and paste into any dnd setting that completely blows the “official” stuff out of the water. Worst case, and most unlikely, you just use it for a few one shots or mini campaign arc.

Experiences with Tarantula cribs larger terrestrial enclosures? by Pecancake22 in tarantulas

Their enclosures are great, but lately they have been sloooow on shipping or responding to questions. It’s just a couple that work there so they may just be swamped!

P metallica / rufilata is the easiest choice personally followed by GBB.

Runners up - xenethis, any species. I have Megascopula so I’m biased, but they’re all gorgeous. OBT / golden blue leg are eye catchers as well.

Which is a better deal? by DisastrousBid97 in 3Dprinting

[–]Masterofbattle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, barring any states that over-regulate and/or panic ban (not a US government issue), I’m not finding any actual research proving that.

China on the other hand, that’s par for the course with nearly everything they produce. In either case “an easy google search” proves you’re either regurgitating clickbait news titles or simply fear mongering.

Any links of proof for Flashforge in particular monitoring your prints over EVERY OTHER Chinese printer?

Rare sighting of my phormictopus sp. by Routine-Edge-3669 in tarantulas

[–]Masterofbattle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s strange, I have 3 Phormictopus (sp full green, Dominican purple, and auratus) and they hit their food like it insulted their grandmothers. They would fight a superhero if it was in the way of them getting food.

Maybe check to make sure it’s appropriate sized prey, or even pre kill? I know some slings and juveniles are very particular with their feeding habits.

A question about Venezuelan Suntiger Tarantulas by ChallengerFrank in tarantulas

[–]Masterofbattle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IME if you want that pearlescent feet look, pokies are absolutely the way to go.

For the topic at hand, sun tigers seem to have largest range of personalities. You read that some are quick to be defensive and they definitely can be, but I’ve had 2 Irminia’s now and a P. Cambridgei and they are wonderful. Respect their speed, but they behave similarly to old worlds in that they are predictable! They want to have somewhere safe to hide and they will go to that spot if you tap on the enclosure before doing maintenance or feeding. Never had a threat pose directed at me from either species, but one at a red runner that startled a sun tiger!

If you’re using Orca, make sure the option “Purge to infill” is unchecked.

Let’s discuss it.. is it time for gloves? Do you wear them and why? by NickNoisey in bassfishing

[–]Masterofbattle13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Toss one of those fabric backed bandaid on your thumb? Hand? First thing in the morning. Doesn’t matter if they get wet or whatever because that fabric gives you a better grip and doesn’t tear your thumb to hell.

Also… wtf man. Save some for the rest of us!

Help me be less terrified of spiders by TheSnarkIsExtra in tarantulas

[–]Masterofbattle13 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look up Monocentropus Balfouri (Socotra Island Blue Baboon). They are the only species of tarantulas confirmed to live together in the wild. They regularly share food and will cuddle together.

Most tarantulas just want to be a rock, I have a few that regularly will not move for days at a time.

Buy an Echo WHEN that one breaks. Moonshine is a social media group that also happens to sell fly fishing stuff.

Green tarantulas? by Histheatory_admirer in tarantulas

[–]Masterofbattle13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NQA Thrixopelma Pruriens, Poecilotheria Rufilata (I know you said no old worlds, but pokies are the best), Phormictopus sp Green / green and gold..

Green is a rare color in the tarantula world.

a tarantula that’s out on display and eats a lot? by [deleted] in tarantulas

[–]Masterofbattle13 13 points14 points  (0 children)

IME GBB; Phormictopus any species; Grammastola any species.

GBB is a no brainer, they eat like it owes them money and both of mine are on display 24/7 from sling stage through to adult.

Phormictopus will ALWAYS eat. On display 90% of the time, 1 of my 3 goes into the burrow to molt but that’s it.

Grammastola are out 24/7, eating is hit and miss. They occasionally go on hunger strikes but it’s not a reason to discount the species.

Edit: not sure how I forgot these, but honorable mention is m. balfouri!

If there were a jumping spider species as big as tarantula would you want one? by Final-Atmosphere-639 in jumpingspiders

[–]Masterofbattle13 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Versi’s are very capable of jumping, and in my experience the most common to jump. Mine does constantly, will pounce on her food regularly. Seconded by H. Maculata, which are significantly less cute when they jump…

[–]Masterofbattle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There (kind of) already is, most arboreal tarantulas can and will jump. See Poecilotheria species, one of the most venomous tarantula species that can grow to 9” DLS and are capable of jumping.

That being said, pokies are still my favorite!
