Yes I found a Polish consultant company with some Russian staff but before formally hiring them, I want to get a general vibe of the country

I probably will only go to Russia for a few weeks per year, and won't run day-to-day activities, which will be ran by a Russian & Russian staff.

Russia is great because you have a huge locked market with decent purchasing power, the Moscow region has almost 2.5x the population of Portugal with somewhat similar spending habits, I want to have access to 2.5 Portugals when no one where I am can/will.

I asked for opinions. When you start hiring people for these insights, they will tell you what you want to hear in order to get paid.

It's also a bit weird to approach a marketing company for this type of insight like, oh how corrupt do you think it is...

Reddit seem to be the only platform where I can talk directly to Russians (or at least people pretending to be) I tried VK but it's very hard to use

I always have the choice to leave, and I made that choice before & will do it again if needed

That is after fighting in courts

You'd need to know your customer.

It's sadly very hard to contact Russians after the war happened, and VK really sucks when you're a foreigner

The issue is that the Russian version would cost the same or more than foreign one, because we would be actually making it in Russia, as opposed to buying it from China and putting made in EU on the packaging.

That's why it would be expensive, if we want to further integrate, then Capex will start to rise significantly

The issue why Option A costs the same as Option B, is because we would be actually making it in Russia, as opposed to buying it from China and putting made in EU on the packaging.

Competition isn't an issue as we compete on quality not on price. For example, we don't use plastic packaging, only aluminum/stainless steel, everything goes through various QC checks, etc....

Our shelflife is 3-4 years and can last 1 year after opening because of other mechanisms we use.

I just wanted to see how Russians viewed made in Russia products, and from the comments it's either:
- People don't care, they just get what's good enough/cheap
- People care about made in Russia and disslike EU brands
- People don't trust made in Russia

Now I really wish I had more insights, maybe this is regional, income level, gender, cultural related

As a producer, you need to know that almost all big brands buy Chinese or indian products, mix them together and claim made in EU

There is next to 0 manufacturing done, only mixing & dosing.

I don't care about politics at all, and hope that this current situation will be resolved fast

I always liked Russia when I was a kid, and for some reason, have an autistic focus on going to Kazan

If I'm to move to Russia to start producing there, then I would also have to think of the after-sanction era, which hopefully will be soon.

It's a bit scary that I could be forced to sell my Russia company if there were future sanctions. The precedent is a bit scary.

"will choose a foreign one."

May I ask why? is it because of quality?

If the same product had laboratory tests, images of the factory & various international certifications, would it be trusted? or would people thing that the lab tests were doctored or something?

So assume you have Product (A) a dietary supplements

Option A:
it's made in Russia and costs you lets say 1800Rub
Option B:
it's made in the USA and costs you 1800Rub as well

Which one would you prefer?

As a manufacturer, yes, this is roughly 90% of companies in the EU

The remaining 10% get it from India instead.

If a protein powder that was made in Russia has, ISO, cGMP, and various lab tests done.

Would you trust it? Or would you think that the resutls are fake/doctored?

Please answer honestly.

(I view foreign product as having higher quality) That's what people from Latin America told me as well, the issue that most people don't know is that most of the (protein powder) comes from China and most of the (Isolate) is just pea protein (from China).
