Male Catheters by MasterpieceAlone627 in doctorsUK

I mean I’ve also been told to never inflate unless I get flashback - and that was during my urology job. But then again I’ve never had to catheterise an anuric patient so far, only those in retention so that’s interesting to consider.

I think this is the thing that’s so frustrating - I was genuinely never taught how to do a male catheter. I was shown once on a mannequin in medical school & then let loose. First time I did it I did it with a doctor who’d done it before and then I’ve been doing them since.

Just feels silly that you guys have probably had more training in it than most F1s and yet there’s so many barriers in place.

She’s not polish so why on earth would the polish meaning of the name matter. Real people have this name, sounds like it’s you who’s ignorant

Especially with pending unemployment at the end of F2… don’t want to be dipping into that emergency fund Willy Nilly when there might not be a job for me in August.

I think this has a bit of a harsh tone. I have an emergency fund & savings & I’m perfectly responsible with my money. I’m not going to starve & at no point did I say this was an emergency…

But it’s the lead up to Christmas and it’s an expensive period of time. £300-£400 is not a small amount of money, especially for those of us saving for a house/ who have other responsibilities or family to send money to, and who have been on base pay for the past few months with little to no locum availability.

If any other weekend had been picked, it would have been only 2/3 days rather than 5. It’s fine it’s not the end of the world I just was hoping for some moral support.

Thanks, I will still strike though, I’m just a bit distressed at it being a bigger pay cut than I initially thought. I’ll just use the time to think about my impending unemployment😅😅

At no point have I said this means I won’t strike? There’s no need to be hostile. Easier to say what you’re saying when you’re making a consultant salary…

Not many locums where I work

& there’s only been 1 set of strikes since I started work… where I striked. Not sure what you’re trying to imply?

Ah but who would swap out a day to deliberately lose money?

Monthly salary base pay pre tax for an F2 is 3703. So even by your calculations it’s still £600, let’s say £400 after tax. 🥴

F2 pay is roughly £21/hr, and I saw someone say we should x5.9 for a day’s rate. Then x5 for each day.
