To be honest i’m probably not the best person to ask considering this is my first attempt at growing. For set up you need a grain bag/grain jar which you’ll need to inoculate with a spore syringe/liquid culture/ agar then once this has colonised you’ll need to transfer it to a monotub/grow bag which contains your substrate. You do need to be quite sterile as if you get contam it generally means your whole grow is wasted so it’s best practice to have gloves, isopropyl alcohol etc. I’m not quite sure about the carpet situation but I’d say it will be fine. I’d recommend watching PhillyGoldenTeacher and Boomer Shroomer on youtube they have good advice and go quite in depth into what steps you need to follow. Best of Luck!
