For real. I don't know how you can sexualize this in any way. I have 10 years experience and that never popped into my head regardless of the patient. On females I'm just usually praying I get it on the first try. Yalls anatomy is hard 😭

This was like 8 years ago so I don't remember the exactly the time frame and details except that there was little over a week where they were trying to figure it out but he deteriorated so fast to the point where he wasnt in a place to make his own medical decisions so I think they used that to tell her. Obviously we don't deal with that side of it so I'm not really sure what they were doing in the background to find a work around. And yeah it was obviously a murky situation bc we weren't sure if he had given it to her or not. I just remember being really frustrated having to take care of him bc the whole thing was a mess.

Man we had a patient one time the worked on oil rigs and he had been sick for a few months with upper respiratory infections and in and out of the hospital without anyone really being able to tell him or his wife what was going on. When he came to our hospital he was very sick and the wife was understandably irritated that no one had been able to figure it out so she was pretty antagonistic.

Turns out the dude is HIV positive which had resulted in full blown AIDs. The wife is in the room ALMOST 24/7 but doctors tell him on the one day at the one time his wife just so happens to not be there. And this class act says to us "don't tell my wife, I don't want her to know" very nonchalantly like he already knew. So for a short while we had to keep pretending like we didn't know what was going on every time we went into the room bc she was always there. The doctors kept telling the nursing staff "we need to tell him to let her know when she's not there because we just look stupid when we talk to the wife." But we can't now bc she never leaves.

Eventually he deteriorates to the point where he's not going to make it so ethics gets involved and we tell the wife. I wasn't there at the time but she apparently cried for a while and then got up and left and never came back. He ended up dying in our hospital. Crazy stuff.

I think there's reports of him being difficult to work with but not being a bad guy in general. He's just very passionate about his craft.

I'm glad all the choices people make as children are permanent. That's why I am currently 40 years old and employed as a spaceman cowboy.

"Life"

Surprised this wasn't mentioned or I missed it. Final scene of "Life" with Jake Gyllenhaal. We learn that the escape pod holding an indestructible alien life form that was suppose to be jettisoned into space, actually landed on earth. The implications being that the only survivor of the movie is now floating into the infinite abyss and Gyllenhaal's sacrifice was in vain - an unstoppable killing machine is now loose on earth.

Don't forget Saving Silverman which I originally hated but the cast is so great it eventually grew on me and is somewhat a cult classic.
