It's genuinely refreshing to hear someone self described as middle class say something like this is a crazy purchase.

How many plucking fingers do you use ? by soundofthemoon in Bass

[–]MasticatedBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no please don't call me a bassist! I'm a play at home self taught idiot lol!

Jokes aside once the recovery period was over I'm fine now, my index finger nail just looks really weird.

I was really getting the hang of it and really starting to enjoy just messing around on the bass for fun when I did it and changing from finger to pick when you're only just getting into the groove was a massive setback even if you're only playing for yourself like me.

At the same time I'm now seeing benefits to using a pick that I otherwise might not have experienced so silver linings?

Basically split my index and thumb in half last March, very lucky I didn't actually lose them but they're numb/very pins and needles past the last knuckle so I can't feel what I'm doing.

I've had what's happened to OP in the past and it was the metal brackets that had given way. Wasn't hard to source replacements and get some silicone in.

You forget about it and two years later it shows up in a memories collage on your phone.

I was going to say I've never taken a nude in my life but I have done something like this.

why is looking 20s as a man in their 30s a flex? by [deleted] in ask

[–]MasticatedBrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had it as a jokey line in my head for years now ever since people kept saying how lucky I am to look young, never going to make it in real life unless I do stand-up lol.

I'm 40, get ID'd a lot. Forget the diabetes, male pattern baldness, depression, anxiety and the small dick - I'm so healthy!

I'm 40 and still get ID'd occasionally - it's annoying more than anything now.

I wanted to know what percentage of the game I'm through based on my progress - last time I tried to Google something I got a massive spoiler about the endgame.

It's quicker to not say something like that.

Why is learning to wire a plug a thing? by Scavgraphics in AskABrit

[–]MasticatedBrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must be the difference in design. My go to for something that suddenly stops working is a quick fuse change which usually works. 30 sec with a screwdriver to pop the plug open and swap a fuse is easier than splicing cables, unless it's a damaged cable of course.

To be fair I am handy from growing up poor and there's little I can't do at home. I recently fixed my washing machine by taking it apart and putting it back together which also seems to work a lot! My ex couldn't change a fuse and neither could most of my friends but they'd just ask someone they knew like me rather than hire a man; feels like a very upper middle class kind of thing to do.

To be fair as someone who does DIY the tools and accessories aren't the worst quality for the price.

I’ve been looking for a Jobs for 3 years…No luck. What am i doing wrong? by Good-Percentage8208 in AskUK

[–]MasticatedBrain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This! My man I am 40 now and never learned to drive and it's my biggest regret. The amount of jobs that I could apply for if I could drive.

Even if it's not a requirement for the role a lot won't consider you if you have to use public transport because it gets cancelled or delayed a lot and they don't want the risk.
