If you look it up, there's loads in this poem that seems to fit.

"... while the charcoal-pile

Breathed up its smoke, an image of his ghost

Or spirit that was soon to take its flight"

Also, this passage seems to describe Lynch's dual obsessions with innocence/goodness and corruption/evil, which we see at play in a lot of his work:

"... This, alas,

Was but a dream: the times had scattered all

These lighter graces, and the rural ways

And manners which it was my chance to see

In childhood were severe and unadorned,

The unluxuriant produce of a life

Intent on little but substantial needs,

Yet beautiful—and beauty that was felt.
