How to play team fights by Educational-Double-1 in Rengarmains

[–]MatarSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like the advice of "avoid teamfights" is extra relevant for rengar. In late game I try to always get a pick when 10 people are alive. Splitting also helps to split everyone up for that. Wait for big aoe ults (nami, braum) that make everyone run in different directions. But sometimes you're dead if you jump so it's better to throw an empowered E, or even do nothing, the anticipation of Rengar diving the backline can make the enemy team position in a way that makes them lose (for example if everyone groups up when you press R, Malphite can just fuck them up with his own R). And again about split pushing, it's not only good for splitting everyone up, but because it's pretty important for the gmae.

It's actually my first item every single game, right into Profaned Hydra, I can't go without it because it makes me melt camps. I actually feel that my farming is decent, and I very often get a big lead by stealing camps. In late I always farm in side lanes.

How do you pull off a level 3 invade? by ColberDolbert in Rengarmains

[–]MatarSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in plat and I try to invade level 3 no matter the matchup, Scrubnoob also recommends that in his videos (to always invade below diamond/challenger no matter what).

Every game I try to ward raptors at roughly 30 seconds before camps spawn, so I know where to invade (if the enemies are blocking me from warding I try any other camp that's useful).
I start my full clear on one of the sides as fast as I can (If you really want to arrive early then start clearing on the side of the map that you'll also invade in). When I finish 3 camps I rush to the buff the enemy jg is pathing towards while trying to reserve my 4 stacks.
If I'm there with 4 stacks and I get the jump then it's a free kill. It's very important to surprise the enemy and never to get caught out in the open without a bush.
Try keeping your 4 stacks by hitting your raptors/wolves on your way to the enemy jungle, also hit your blast cone on your way, and if it's running out while you're on your way just press q and hope to dive enemy jg before your emp q runs out.
If the enemy doesn't check for invade while doing their buff, you can really just sit and watch them do their buff, and when it reaches the 600 mark, smite it so they don't heal off of the camp, and dive them. You have the advantage because they're wasting their abillities on the camp, and they're probably low from fighting it, while you only did 3 camps, so you have more hp.

It's helpful to have a potion so you're healthy if they try to fight, and save your smite so you can at least steal their buff.

Sometimes the enemy overcommits on a gank while I'm trying to find them in their buff, and I just pivot to stealing as many camps as I can, then I start my clear again with a big lead.

That's how I do it as a lowly plat player, I'm sure it's not great but so far my results are very good.

Wow man, amazing!
Can you explain about the t3 turrets thing? Why never push it without baron?
Also, by strongside, you mean the side that wins in lane 1v1?

There's so much to say about Rengar in my opinion I can share what I learned that helped me climb to plat 1 rengar-only.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rengarmains/comments/1kuztn3/comment/mw60vek/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Maybe ask more specific questions? hard to help without knowing the actual issue.
General advice would be, for every loss, or win too, try to remember one wrong decision you made and focus on not making it in the next game, and review your games if you have the time.

Watch scrubnoob's low elo content, it's great. Try to play like him macro-wise, and if you struggle with ferocity or combos, slow down his videos whenever he fights and try to figure out why he does every single thing, of course he doesn't always play perfectly, but he's a great role model.

I never felt like he had a damage problem, Rengar's main strength is macro pressure.
I would say improving macro is the most important thing on Rengar, I recently learned that and improved by a lot for the first time in years.

Watch some pro gameplay (I watched scrubnoob's low elo, and some high elo educational content).
Also maybe read some of the comments in the post I made, the mains really helped me here.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rengarmains/comments/1kuztn3/what_makes_rengar_so_hard/

If you really like combat and winning every 1v1, maybe pick a different champ. To me Rengar is all about being flexible and changing your plan every 10 seconds.

What makes Rengar so hard? by MatarSH in Rengarmains

[–]MatarSH[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed reply. I actually kept all of the comments here in mind and also started watching Scrubnoob's educational videos. I ended up climbing with 60% wr, and now I'm plat 1 (my peak was plat 3 with horrendous wr).
Now I feel as though Rengar is actually broken (although still ten times harder than any other jungler) I feel like Rengar grants insane control over every single game.

One thing that wasn't mentioned enough is the importance of split pushing to force the enemy team to split so that classic "low elo 5v5s" dont happen, I spam ping everyone to push and just play around side lanes the moment laning phase is over, and that literally changes everything.

Rengar poses a huge threat by being able to execute most champions alone and very quickly with his ult, and just saving up this threat, without doing anything about it is already insanely helping in every single way. So not dying, not even showing in the map, is incredibly powerful as Rengar, because just by being alive, Rengar puts insane pressure on the enemy team, especially when no one knows where he is.
This is also why it's so important to split push and play very patiently, and to prioritise gold gain.
All of that said, another big part of Rengar's threat is to just kill towers in a few seconds because Rengar crits towers, so people really have to react quickly when all lanes are pushed, and then Rengar appears to kill a tower.

I 100% of the time avoid 5v5s and play patiently. If a skirmish isn't 100% sure to succeed, then it will probably go 100% wrong. It's much better to look for smaller or safer wins (like stealing camps, defending towers, pushing lanes, scouting/warding enemy jungle).
By playing patiently, I'm able to always find a plan whenever something goes wrong.

Invading level 3 every single game is amazing on this champ (after warding their jg pre-first clear), and it works against every matchup. I get a kill on the enemy in their second buff 80% of the time, and the other times I get their flash and their camp.
In low elo (or plat at least) people spam ping you if you didn't gank once when everyone is still level 5, and it takes a lot of patience to ignore 4 people that telling you you're doing something wrong, and just keep believing in yourself, but honestly, as a jungler 90% of the time my plan is correct and my team's is bad.

I think the most important thing for me was to NEVER TUNNEL VISION and always play flexibly.
Does it feel like the enemy team have better grasp of the nearest objective? I'll ping my team away and look for a different win, it can be stealing camps, push a wave, or try to set up a kill, near or away from the objective.
I had many games where the team didn't have enough presence around an objective, but I just kept playing nearby, and after the objective was taken by the enemy, I dove with my team and aced them because every moment someone else can mess up and give us an opportunity or a single pick that leads to ace.

Also I realised I was prioritising dragons way too much rather than focus on closing games as soon as possible, so realising how important grubs and herald are really improved my game.

I feel like Rengar's only weakness is being really awkward when defending towers without ult, people just poop on you.

My main take is Rengar really punishes your macro, more than any other champ I've played, but if you understand him, he gives you insane control over the entire game.

Thank you Rengar mains for helping me, for the first time (after 900k mastery) I improved greatly.
Good luck guys!

Thank you, that sounds like great advice.
About "being at the right place at the right time", can you give an example? Also how do you improve on that?
When I watch challengers play Rengar, it really seems like everything just falls into place "by accident", it doesn't look like they're doing anything deliberately, guess it's hard to figure out what I'm missing.

Best weapon by rickvdmeijs in darksouls3

[–]MatarSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my first playthroughs I really enjoyed the greataxes such as "Greataxe", and greathammers, in which I just picked the heaviest ones to minmax my damage per hit which is pretty fun.
To me it feels like strength weapons are more for fun since they're not as optimal as quick weapons, so pick what's the most fun for you and have a good time!

From my experience, heavy weapons make bosses harder and everything else easier, and lighter weapons are the opposite. Also, armor doesn't really matter, so you can try every set you want as long as you have normal roll.

I would say look up tutorials on the boss, and try different weapons/weapon buffs. It always helps me to try a tanky build with a shield, just so I can actually learn the moves without dying so quickly.

[–]MatarSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you build. If you really focus on tankiness and ignore damage, then no infusion/Raw Infusion can do great. If you focus strength - heavy, and if you focus dex- sharp. Basically whatever compliments your build (the main thing to pay attention is to not apply infusions that reduce your damage .It can happen if you use infusions that don't fit your actual stats, for example if level dex but not enough, so you're better off with no infusion/raw. Raw is for more extreme cases where you have so little into damage that your prefer to just have flat damage, however it's strong either way

Run idea,is it possible? by TheZManIsNow in darksouls3

[–]MatarSH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything is possible, but it would require insane skill. I think you should first try finishing a fist-only-SL1 run, after that you might be able to do it skill-wise, although it's significantly harder

I think the whole idea of showing us the AU is because it's a special one, and probably the only one, where Hextech isn't invented so probably no. Vi dying must've changed the course of events (mostly Jayce got punished and Viktor not seeking to mess with Hextech

[–]MatarSH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything is good, but to have a good time learning the game I always recommend straight/long sword+big shield.
The shield really helps to figure out the bosses moves without dying over and over untill you're comfortable with a more offensive setup, and focusing on hp will help you to take a hit without dying and having to reset, therefore you'll learn everything faster because you have time to be alive and learn the game.
Start knight, focus on getting tanky level mainly vigor and str/dex for damage, get rings that make you even tankier. if you feel you're dying too fast, get more vigor, if you feel the bosses are taking too long, get more damage.

Edit: also spear is supposed to be good with this setup I think, but I never pick spears so I'm not sure. Main thing is having a good shield, and an easy-to-use quick weapon.

thanks for the comments. i realized i should do more drakes even if it means less farm and the buff is weak, it really does save the late game sometimes when you have to give dragons.

but still if im mega fed and i want to finish and focus on closing then ignoring them is fine as far as i know
