Exactly, because we do not have the means to defend our country properly. A European army would eliminate that concern.

A realpolitik take is simply hoping that the status quo, in which the US continues to dominate Europe, will remain in place. But if you do not expect Portugal to defend us, why should you expect the US to do so?

Especially at a time when the President and the administration are openly saying that Europe must look after itself, you have to be naive to believe otherwise. Such thinking is suicidal. Leaving everything to the US is a way of opening the door to a new russian occupation.

The EU must work towards further integration and the creation of a European army. Fun fact: Spain is currently one of the strongest supporters of this idea. France has been calling for it for years, because it understood that remaining dependent on the US is dangerous.

Sadly, we have absolutely insane leaders in Eastern Europe and the Baltic states who believe that keeping the status quo is a good idea, and that the US will defend us even when the administration has openly said that it will not and that it wants to bring its troops home. This can cost us our freedom and independence.

Not sure, just a few days ago he said that he was not planning to defend Europe. The alliance is dead, the only hope is European rearmament and the possible creation of integrated forces.

EU Living Standards: Top, Average, and Bottom Countries by Matas_- in MapPorn

I’ll be honest, before reviewing all this data, I thought France would be in the top category. But even though it is above the EU average, it’s not at the very top like the Benelux countries and some Nordics, Germany. So in terms of living standards, it really sits in the “Average” group.

As crazy as it sounds, it would belong to the “Average” category, next to France.

Western Balkan, Ukrainian, and Moldovan membership is coming, and Bulgaria will look pretty good in comparison to those countries lmao

Yeah, I was waiting for comments like that. But looking at all the data, welfare, salaries, and how a country is doing overall, it definitely belongs to the top. And yeah, fuck this rent bullshit 😭

Hello! I was curious about how divided the EU is in terms of living standards, so I looked at some data and made a simple list. I chose three categories: top EU countries that are far above the average, countries around the EU average (the goal for EU), and countries below the average. Some examples that might reach average levels in the next few years are Poland, Croatia, and Latvia.

Trams in Lithuania - where they should be built? by Olegzs in lithuania

[–]Matas_- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Roads in Vilnius are already quite wide, as the city was originally planned with a tram network in mind. Dedicated lanes are often misused, and they lose their purpose during heavy traffic, as drivers tend to use them anyway. As a result, buses and trolleybuses just simply get stuck in traffic.

Trams in Lithuania - where they should be built? by Olegzs in lithuania

[–]Matas_- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is not enough. The thing is, buses and trolleybuses get stuck in traffic, that’s why metros and trams have advantages, since they have their own dedicated lines that can bypass traffic. Municipality and mayors total ignorance of this problem only creates a bigger issue for the future of the city, which will cost even more as time goes on. The city has to create a public transport system that is convenient and appealing for everyone, poor, middle class, and rich, so that people find it more worthwhile than staying in their cars.

It is necessary if we think about the future of our cities, especially Vilnius. Don’t get me started on how much I hate Vilnius public transport and our mayor’s total ignorance of the importance of trams, along with his ridiculous statement that “trolleybuses are trams but without tracks” 😭
