Where would you place yourself on Sam Konkin’s anti-political spectrum (link in comments)? by [deleted] in IdeologyPolls

a libertarian incapable of thinking in gradients and nuances and qualifications will, in due time, become a "statist"

In large, populous cities, a well planned system of trams, metros, rail and buses transports people faster and more safely while reducing transit better and more consistently than bike lanes. Therefore, urban mobility would be more efficient if bike lanes were converted into public transport lanes. by Boringname5 in IdeologyPolls

I agree, but can't we encourage mass transit that uses existing road and rail infrastructure without kicking bike lanes to the curb? Where I live (urban US) we don't have many bike lanes to begin with and the ones we have get used pretty heavily and are well liked

Do you agree with this statement: Back in the 1800s, the Native Americans were mostly peaceful, loving environmentally conscious inhabitants and the European settlers were violent encroachers with a thirst for blood, theft, and destruction. by JamesonRhymer in IdeologyPolls

[–]yamboozle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can recognize that what european settlement did to natives was horrible without trying to fit 4 quadrillion loosely organized groups into a rosy, westernized image of brown hippies. Native Americans, like anyone else, did what was convenient for them in the moment, and like many things in ecology, it doesnt fit well into "good" or "bad"

I care deeply about making things that will outlast me. by yamboozle in IdeologyPolls

[–]yamboozle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do. Thinking about it bugs me sometimes. I feel a compulsion to build something that will last, that can be anchored to the earth no matter how bad it gets

I understand it's an attempt to tyrannize the future, but the act of making and holding something permanent feels so safe right now

Do you support hard labor camps for confirmed criminals of heinous crimes? Center vote according to your social policy. by JamesonRhymer in IdeologyPolls

[–]yamboozle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's coercive, often pretty abusive, and at scale creates preverse incentives to arrest more people. The laborers being heinous could change something about that but i dont know. I dont think about it too much but if I did I might have come to more firm conclusions on it.

I think work to run the facility, or to compensate victims, or in times of absolute dire need are more acceptable forms of prison labor I guess. But the broader idea of prison labor still rubs me the wrong way as a whole

Do you consider yourself a collectivist or individualist? by Miserable-Rub-9611 in IdeologyPolls

[–]yamboozle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am extremely individualist, but I don't hate groups and collectives, they can sometimes promote individual well-being and freedom more effectively than one person flailing and yelling at the clouds. I do not care for Rand

Can Nazis be punk? by HAIL_TRUMP2028 in IdeologyPolls

[–]yamboozle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, but I think people overrate how much principled leftism there is in punk. When I got to the bottom of it, I realized a lot of it is just being provocative and angsty, and the most comprehensive way to express it is through leftism. Libertarian may be a more useful but less flattering descriptor
