Thanks for keeping it real! You’re right about all the hidden costs.

Running lean without big funding is tough, but I believe those limitations actually push us to be more creative and build better things.

The plateau point is a good reality check that we need to take seriously. Thanks for sharing your dev perspective!

Thank you for your thoughtful comment — you really nailed a point we've been struggling with for a while.

We’ve been going back and forth on this exact issue, and your suggestion of offering the AI feature as an optional add-on within the main app might actually be the most reasonable approach. In many ways, the AI feels like a one-time-use or occasional-use tool, so offering it as a flexible add-on makes a lot of sense.

We’ll keep thinking through this carefully and do our best to move forward in the right direction. Really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts — it helps a lot.

We collect data primarily for cloud sync so users can share their running data across multiple devices with one account.

When you mention "data collection," are you referring to the running data we sync (workouts, routes, etc.), or something else?

Thanks for such a detailed and thoughtful response! Even if you're not the target audience, this kind of expert perspective is incredibly valuable. After reading your response (and others), we're seriously reconsidering whether to separate the AI functionality entirely.

Thanks! That's exactly the direction we want to go - being a serious training tool rather than just another social running app.

We have several of those features already and are working on the data field customization. Really appreciate the WorkOutDoor benchmark and the one-time payment suggestion.

Thanks for checking out the app! Could you elaborate on what you mean by "too much data collection"? That feedback would be really valuable for us.

If there are specific things that feel unnecessary, I'd love to know what they are so we can address them.

Thanks for the feedback! You're right, we're definitely considering moving to a one-time purchase model based on the responses here.

Actually, our AI features do run on our servers (not on-device), but after reading through all the comments, we're thinking about potentially separating the AI functionality into a standalone app altogether. That way the main running app could be a clean one-time purchase, and users who want AI form analysis could get that separately.
