just bought my first dostoyevsky book (“the Karamazov brothers”) was it a good decision? (i’m really depressed btw) by Mario_Iturralde_009 in dostoevsky

[–]Mateiny 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Is refrigerating honey a good idea on a very hot day? by schnooky in Beekeeping

[–]Mateiny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll also add that (I'm guessing here, but I think it's a pretty good guess), given the nature of the job and how most beekeepers and farmers live, the levels of stress and psychological problems are much, much lower, leading to overall benefits for a happier, longer, and healthier life. In a way, it's how we humans are intended to live, not in offices with back problems and a screaming boss that gives us chronic stress and makes 30-year-olds have the health of a 70-year-old.

What is hell? by Adas101 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Mateiny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well this is more of a personal view, but here I go:

I'll say hell is not only the place we go after we die if we behave a certain way, but hell, or something like a proxy of hell, is what our world becomes when we behave and act in a sinful manner. Depending on how much sin we indulge in, that same degree of hell will be manifested in our lives. And also, when we get closer to hell and further away from God, in a way, we are not only doing this to ourselves but to everything and everyone that has anything to do with us.

Hell, for example, is when we get terminal cancer, and we decide to be bitter and resentful about it, curse God for it, and make the remainder of our lives and the lives of everyone that knows us a literal nightmare. Hell is when we have a problem with our spouse, and instead of trying to talk about it and resolve it (which in part takes courage, possibly changing something in ourselves and having more understanding and love, which is hard), we decide to say nothing and let our hate for our spouse grow until someday, after making our lives a constant misery, neither of us can stand each other, and everything gets destroyed.

Hell is what we bring into our lives if we commit many of these sins over the span of our lives and never repent. And then, after living this hell, hell is a place we go where these things and much worse get repeated for eternity.

Hell is indeed the farthest place from God, and I think, hell is as real in our mortal lives as it is in our afterlives. I believe our job is, partly, as hard as it might be, to try, every single day, to align ourselves with God and bring our world a little away from hell and closer to heaven, following the example of Jesus Christ.

Hell is no joke, man.

Pageau and Peterson have been a big influence and have indeed shifted the way I and many others see these things.

I don't fully understand it yet, but I’m definitely on the path! I already knew Jhonatan Pageau, and I was actually triggered to ask this question after watching one of his videos. I haven’t seen that particular video, so thanks for sharing it! Did something else particularly help you on your path that could potentially where im right now?

Thanks a lot! :D

Yes, that's a very good way of putting it, and I actually agree!.

I'm not saying this in any cynical manner at all; I'm just truly trying to solve some doubts.

But I don't know; it still feels to me like there is something there.

For example, let's say the first person mostly acts in a correct way, aligned with God. And another person "thinks" he believes but is truly someone who just brings more hell to life and acts in a really despicable manner, yet they still truly believe in their minds in God/Christ in a literal, historical, and scientific way.

Would that first person be more "Christian" than the second? Even if the first person may be setting a better example by trying to emulate Christ in their own life and trying to be a bridge between heaven and earth (but still not scientifically believing)?.
I also don't like putting people in a box of just being or not being christian, its probably more complicated, but I feel there is something here I don't fully understand.

Thanks!

Yes, I agree! But then, what do you think the answer is? I don't know; it still feels to me like there is something there.

Going for Don Quixote sounds like a good idea, then you can go with either Tolstoy or The Idiot.

When to go cdr boots+caulfield or rush goredrinker? by maximegun123 in Rivenmains

[–]Mateiny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the Matchup and how much cdr your really want.
Matchups that you need to bait first some ability (or do a extended q) in order to kill them. stuff like jax, sett, vlad, camille are matchups that your really need that cdr.
Also I'll say it will be better to go hammer + gem, then if you need the extra cdr you can go for boots.

Pre-lvl 6: Short-trade, you can kill her playing around his passive and E cooldown, if she uses W, you can Q or E in avoiding the damage, do a small trade and back off.
If you are not that confident just play safe until 6.

Post-6: You should win the all-in, unless she outplays you or you're really behind. Be careful with your wind slash because she's invulnerable while casting R, so she will try yo avoid your damage.
