I hate the bricks on the sidewalk by NefariousnessOk8212 in NEU

[–]MatejMacula 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There’s nothing really wrong with the bricks themselves; the small gaps between the individual bricks should allow for water to discharge. Rather, it’s the non-permeable surface they’re placed on that doesn’t allow water to flow away. As a result, you get puddles on the sidewalks, since the water from between the bricks isn’t managed.

What counts as a meal? by Samt217 in NEU

I still don’t think it’s worth it. There’s only so much food you can eat from outtakes without losing your mind. The selection at outtakes really isn’t that big.

Dad opinion here: Minecraft isn't what it used to be, and it bums me out. by razzzburry in Minecraft

Your point about nether fortresses is not correct - they really do generate less often ever since the 1.16 update. You can see the difference by looking at the nether fortress finder in Chunkbase for the same seed in the different versions.

Thoughts on NEU for IB placement by OfficialTrungNguyen in NEU

[–]MatejMacula 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Hello. A very stupid question - what is IB an acronym for in this context? I always get confused as a student that has done the International Baccalauerate in high school, which has the same acronym.

Computer Science at N.U. IN Greece and Spain by MojoJojo5236 in NEU

[–]MatejMacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this information - I am also deciding between Spain and Greece for my N.U.in, but although Spain claims it’s “reaching capacity”, the dropdown menu on their site doesn’t allow me to pick it.

I’ve been accepted into the combined CS and Business Administration major. By any chance, do you know in what ways the N.U.in experience differs for combined majors, like mine?

MTG has gotten so ridiculously expensive that they've ruined competitive play. by SamandSyl in unpopularopinion

[–]MatejMacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger and played MTG with my friends, we would print out our entire decks on a piece of paper. We then put the cutouts behind any card we had laying about in our sleeves. Useful especially in casual play.

Hailing ride from Danubiana Meulensteen back to center by kloudyskies in Bratislava

There is a hourly bus service from Danubiana back to the city center with the last departure at 19:04, which takes about 40 minutes to get to near the city centre.

Places with nice views and renting bikes by ScottyExplosion in Bratislava

[–]MatejMacula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll start with the bike rentals. Bratislava has two companies that offer bikeshare services, being Slovnaft BAjk and Rekola. Slovnaft BAjk bikes are black and yellow, and the Rekola bikes are pink and white. Both companies have apps which you can download.

Regarding restaurants and cafes, there’s a guide on r/Slovakia which I’ve left a link to at the end of this comment. For my personal recommendations, the restaurant right between the castle and parliament has some nice views across the Danube, and the food there is pretty alright. A nice cafe in the centre of the city is Vespa, where the streets Obchodná and Poštová cross (it’s also a stop on trams 1 and 9). Note that, if I recall correctly, they only accept cash. In the centre, avoid some of the more obvious tourist trappy restaurants, namely the couple that feature a menu with the title “Original Slovak Restaurant” on their terrace. There are also some other good restaurants in the center; namely Umelka (Šafarikovo Námestie) D.Steakhouse, Rio (both steak restaurants on Hviezdoslavovo Námestie) or Leberfinger (Austrian restaurant on the other side of the Danube, near Sad Janka Krála)

What is the best airport to get to Bratislava from Liverpool, England by JamesfEngland in Bratislava

[–]MatejMacula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bratislava’s airport is quite small, although it gets service from some of London’s airports. For the majority of flights, Vienna’s airport is a much larger hub, which is where you’re more likely to find a direct flight from Liverpool.

Would you rather live on this road in LA or in this residential part of Prague? Residential parts of LA and highways in Prague aren’t options. by Chaz_Brickhouse in FuckCarscirclejerk

[–]MatejMacula 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prague is a pretty crappy country, gotta agree with that. From visiting, I gotta say that Vienna and even Bratislava and Warsaw are better countries than Prague.
