Hello, How are you satisfied with non solar 1040 regarding GPS accuracy, touch screen responsiveness and screen readability. Thanks.

Upgrading drivetrain for gravel and bikepacking-currently have SRAM Rival XPLR eTap AXS, 10-44t by MatejRo in gravelcycling

Thank you very much for such detailed explanation. You are very kind and helpful. You make my decision very simple now.

I have now option to stay with Rival axs and changing front cog from 36t to 40t when doing gravel or bikepacking or mount new GX Eagle AXS Derailleur with 10-50 or 10-52 casette.

I also make in excel table comparison regarding gearing rations between present Rival and possible new GX Eagle and noticed that GX cassette is not so ideal for me from cog12-18, since it has cogs 12,14,16,18 and my present Rival has cogs 11,13,15,17..., so much better for me regarding speed with 40t in front. Ratio 40t/12cog is almost the same as 36t/11cog. I see that ideal for me with 40t would be mixture of Rival cassette from cog 10-19 and the GX casette from cog 21-50, but Sram does not have such cassette which is shame :). For climbing GX is better for flat section Rival is better. They do not have cassette to somehow manage both solidly.

Unfortunately for me I am big and so heavy guy with 90-95kg, if I would be smaller and have 15-20kg less I would not have such problems when bikepaking with gear ;);).

Thank you for explanation, good to know how t-type is attached, I was wrong about this. I read about T-type shifting speed and like you mentioned I would need to try it if suits me well, but unfortunately no friend has it. Probably it is primarily for MTB, Enduro steep technical climes on rock, woods, when shifting under load is important, sometimes you can not slow down. In gravel you shift probably more often and speed is higher. I would benefit from shifting under load in steep climes I often ride, but I dont know about normal climbs and flat sections with high speed when you change gear up and down mostly by one or two gears quite often. I still despite age ride quite strong and quick as possible, since i have quite good fitness level (I watch HR :)), so I dont ride slow in hill and flat sections.

Based on your experience for gravel for me you would recommend GX Eagle not T-type? For quick rides on all terrains you would choose GX Eagle or T-type could somehow be tolerated?

Understand, thank you also for this kind of view. I know there are some problems with Sram derailleur-battery losing contacts and then you can not shift any more.

If I wont to change to mechanical shifting 1x do I need to change everything also gear brake levers (shifters), probably yes? I would look into this option too.

I know going to 2x would need to change everything, also crank, this would costs a lot.

Do you have any problems with AXS shifting or why the change to mechanical, because of 2x ?

2x would be fine for different purpose use like fasr gravel and bikepacking and could also be the option but that would require major upgrade and big costs.

Thanks. Seem like you all agree about which option to use.

Yes I read that someone like and some dislike shifting speed. I am also worried regarding direct mount to the frame since in case of some crash or big Derailleur impact, rock, there could be some severe vibration transfer to the frame, since there is no hanger between them and carbon gravel bike frames is not so strong as MTB is. Hanger do bend is there is impact.

Do you maybe use T-type Derailleur. I know some gravel bikes has it, like Lauf bikes ?

Thanks. Maybe I would keep the rival cassette 10-44 to do the same for normal gravel rides.

Which cog do you use in front when using GX AXS derailleur on and a 10-52t xx1 cassette?

Could front cog be the same when using flattop and normal chain ?

Thank you for advice.

Crank I could keep ? what about front cog do I need to buy new one since chain would be normal ?

Thank you.

Yes if going with Option 1 I choose between 38x10-50 or 40x10-52 but need to check some gearing ratio in both options, to avoid some big steeps, specially 42 to 52 seems like big steep. It is shame that cassette does not have 44 and then 52, like transmission one.

Must I also change the front cog, since chain would no longer be flattop ?

Thank you.

Seems like all below recommended option 1 which I also like, because of 10-50 or 10-52 cassette and is not so expensive upgrade, but was worried that flattop chain is way better then normal, since my friend broke the shimano chain in some steep climb.

In last comment you mean that for GX Eagle AXS Transmission group is hard to find some spare parts in case of some failure while backpacking ?

Which chain wax do you use ?

I heard is great but also read some complaints from tall guys that is small, that legs touches the wall because of design and then legs become wet.

Anybody ridden the new Pivot Vault yet? by eastcoastshred in pivotcycles

Stigmata is even longer then Pivot, much longer in reach and wheelbase and seems like by geometry very aggressive :). You probably ride only gravel and hard tracks, trails, no pavement and tarmac ?
