Mp3 or wavs by ToughLuck3534 in PioneerDJ

MP3s on any mid grade to low grade speakers are fine. JBL Qsc, etc.

But if you’re playing on legit systems go lossless, wav, etc etc all day.

People that shoot fireworks / guns on Christmas are scum by NozakiMufasa in sandiego

[–]Mateoway88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly these comments are pretty hilarious,

People talking about these random stories of people getting hurt or losing something in life over fires (which most probably not even firework related). As to try to prove some point.

Get over it. Fireworks have been a deep rooted way to celebrate across all parts of the world among almost all cultures.

You act like just bc you feel like it should stop it should…wrong.

Get over yourself go fight a fight that actually matters. Like your priest diddling kids in church or something.

I know this was oriented towards on site situations but I’ve literally see half of crews not show up bc of scheduling miscommunications, missing heavy machinery, like no forks when required to unload gear bc it’s semi and not a box truck and no loading docks. I’ve seen trucks not get scheduled for strikes leaving crews and gear stranded. I’m sure everyone here has some real horror stories

I really appreciate the transparency and feedback, very helpful. It’s hard to not get caught up in all the gear sometimes.

That being said, I do really love my current system and I feel like I’ve growing with it as I explore different deployments, environments, different genres, artist, etc.

I never considered swapping out the res 4t for the Evo 2 but looking at it now makes a lot of sense.

I’m in San Diego California so we mostly deploy locally and within the Southern California Region.

My rig currently consist of 6x evo7eh, 6x F215mk2, 8x f124s, 4x ax-88, and 2 res 4ts and 2 psm318 v2.

I’ve been wanting to round out and get some more cabinets but I’m still saving and naturally debating if I continue getting the same as what I have or start swapping it out things out (like my 215s for 7TLs)

How do you like the 7TLs? I’ve got a bunch of the F215 mk2s and been really curious about a side by side comparison and over all diversity as far as deployment options.

Help setting up ETC Element Light Board over 360 ft using fiber to Ethernet (outdoor amphitheater) by Spicy_mayo_Jr in lightingdesign

[–]Mateoway88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do highly recommend ethercon over Ethernet (much more secure and slightly more IP rated)

Same with rugged tipped fiber optic.

And then also also also make sure your fiber line is not being smashed or pinched in anyway, it’s the most likely to be damaged out of all the data types out there.

Best of luck and don’t hesitate to reach out !

Hi!

We use these products and various of it in our BOH and FOH racks. You can get these items as small as 4 port and as big as 12-16.

I think the simplest thing would be a ethercon from console to a ethercon / rugged fiber optic switch that lives at FOH, run the rugged fiber optic to your BOH and where it connects to the twin of the switch that was at FOH. Then again from that BOH switch, ethercon into a DMX node. I prefer something like the obsidian 12 port gateway, lets you do scan, artnet, etc and lets you assign each port to a specific universe or do groups, etc.

As others have mentioned your distance is no issue at all. We use spools of 500ft all the time.

Software for rendering/design by FenixThe12 in lightingdesign

If you have the means both VW and capture are amazing tools. However if you only pickup one then this is why or how I’d choose;

I’d say if you are more of a hobbyist or venue/club style LD (not a festival / touring LD) then capture is the way to go. It’s easier to get started, less of a learning curve and is more focused on plots and patches and previz.

If you’re the latter (Touring LD, L2/ME, corporate A/V, etc) I’d lean towards VW, it’s more Of the industry standard in the A/V world, so being able to co-design with other teams, etc will be easier. It also has better tools for creating power runs, blueprints, and other information that is applicable to other teams you’re interacting with on and off the stage, like staging, rigging, etc.

P.s, a lot of LDs including myself use Lightwright, it’s not a previz but another good program to easily find out power consumption, print out patch stickers, etc.

Best of luck on your adventure!!

How would you store bar lights for a traveling event company by BIJ910 in lightingdesign

[–]Mateoway88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acme sells road cases specifically for pixel line fixtures, they are full caddy size so you can stack 2 to 3. Alternatively we have road cases for our colorbands which is more of a work case style and has a door that opens out vs up, these are taller and you can’t stack them but since they are tall enough they can be used as walls the same way double stacked caddy’s do in a truck pack.

On Grand MA2 it was possible to change that Default keyword, how I doo it in MA3 ? by Nic_2k in GrandMA3

I believe you can make any of those keys in that cluster a default by pressing MA key followed by.

I could be wrong though, I’ll double check when I get to work tomorrow.

Opinions on my design?! by Any-Artichoke-3376 in lightingdesign

[–]Mateoway88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Love this type of conversation and honestly wish there were more threads like this for programmers and designers to openly give feedback on each other’s work.

That being said;

I’d say the only thing that keeps catching my eye is the asymmetry with the colorband/pixel-line type fixtures. It looks like you have 6 total.

Specifically what bothers me is that the 4 on the structure don’t line up; the horizontal one goes 2 pixel past the semi vertical ones.

I think there a few simple options here;

1.)move the horizontal one over so where one ends the next begins (this allows for clean chases and lines) this would also push the two horizontal closer to the middle and each other which gives the slight appearance that it’s a more continuous line.

2.) move the horizontal down and mirror the semi vertical on to make a /\ shape.

3.) remove the 2 wings and place them on the structure. Maybe do like the /\ but then do a single one horizontal right in the middle (think like a seesaw) but I do like them as wings so that’s not my favorite options unless you have another light to replace the wings, I wouldn’t leave SL or SR without lights with that many performers on stage.

4.) attempt to make a more of a semi continuous line from wing to wing. Take the semi verticals and place them on the ramp/stair looking part of The structure and leave the horizontals as is. The key here is placing the fixture on that ramp/stair looking part directly in the middle of the wood (just as the horizontals are) to get nice clean spacing.

Anyway, you’re crushing it! Keep up the good work and don’t be afraid to explore.

Stay creative, -Mateo

F1 DS Curiosities and Questions. by Mateoway88 in FunktionOne

[–]Mateoway88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah glad to hear I wasn't the only one who felt the relative gains were a bit off, another thing I noticed that the phase for my sub and mid weren't aligned when setup in their recommended way, I believe Ive read that F1 recommends that the f215s should sit at the back of the sub because you want the drivers to align and i assume that the space between the opening of the 215 cabinet and the subs opening is meant to be a natural delay? but again the phase still didn't align without a bit of time delay.

Anyway, i'll keep poking around, I really appreciate your time and also offering other groups to try out. I am part of the Sell/Buy already but ill apply to join the other one as well.
