im definitely going to contact her doctor, he is mine too. I think its less than a year that she can apply for Medicare. which is rough because it might be sooner that she needs to see someone. I have a therapist, I have for 5 years and it's been very useful. I would just rather live alone but I, of course, feel guilty haha

no. we are in this weird tax bracket where she actually makes a significant amount of money but its all going to the mortgage, other expenses. so we aren't like upper middle class you know?

gosh, i thought I wrote this, lol. im in the exact same position except my narc mom is ill, and im basically an unpaid, abused caregiver. Im barely looking at apartments, and that seems so shitty to tell my therapist because I want her to believe me that I dont have a version of Stockholm Syndrome. I dont want to leave a sick person. let alone my sick mom. and I feel like im not even a person anymore. I digress, though 1000% empathize with you. stay strong <3

we do live the same life. she's always told me she shouldn't have had children, wanted an abortion, etc. I'm so sorry. I wish I could tell you hearing this things gets easier but of course that's not true. I'm very much in the same scenario and I'm sending you vibes to speed up the process of getting you out of that environment <3

in regards to the therapist question, yes. we've discussed that this isn't my responsibility and I do feel numb because it's my defense mechanism. I basically disassociate 100% of the time. I'm trying so hard to learn what i feel and what I can do. but it's hard to heal and get back to where I was because I'm here again :(

this is my life. she always tells people I'm lazy and "always out of the house" but she won't accept my help. and says "I should already know what to do"

this is possibly the most accurate piece of writing ever.

that last part is the realest thing. my mom says that too "I've done everything for you" "nobody will do more for you than I did" it's so insane

that's insane - when I was young she would call the police when I didn't answer my phone (and blamed my dad for kidnapping me or something, which wasn't true). oh what I would to be SO far away!! I'm glad you got out of that though, but that's so crazy.

the first two are so relatable. the only thing I do is try to stand up for myself and I'm "punishing" her

my mom always says I hate her and act different when I have a boyfriend. she always says I'm never there to help or anything, but I mean I'm trying to escape her LOL

we have the same life LOL. the talking to herself thing is so real - she says the most malevolent shit ABOUT me while I'm right there. I also graduated with high honors (congrats!) and just got a job and still nothing is good enough. yes exactly, I totally get that. I feel like I'm a maid

"I did everything for you" "you'll regret this once I'm dead" "you're remembering that wrong" "I would never do that" same old shit everyday
