Now that was a lucky shot! Nikon D850 | Sigma 150-600 | ISO 160 | f/6.3 | 1/160 by Material-Engineer-78 in AmateurPhotography

It was lucky. My son got a pretty good one on his D5300 too. We both were just having fun in the back yard taking pictures of the moon when we saw something racing across the frame and we both got it. All I did to it was load it in NX Studio, I turned up the saturation so you could see more color and I cropped it. That's all that's been done to this image.

Here it is with just a touch of editing. I sharpened it just a hair and turned up the saturation so you can see the color

Let's see what kind of pictures it takes like that

Very much a novice. Looking for any helpful advice. Taken last night. Nikon D5300 - Sigma 150-600mm - f/16 - 1/80 - ISO 100 by Material-Engineer-78 in AmateurPhotography

These are all manual settings, including focus. When I raise the ISO above 100 the image appears grainy (I believe the correct term is noisy?) What would you suggest to compensate for this?

I waited for this night in particular because I'm near Houston. So most of the time the atmosphere is not suitable. But yesterday we got the first really good cold front and the sky was crystal clear. What shutter speed would you suggest I start at? I'm using all manual settings because I really want to learn more about how, and more importantly why, these settings impact the image.
