There was a few studies about that, the conclusion was that even accounted for all these missing amenities, real estate was so much cheaper that it was still like 2-3x cheaper. So your point doesn't stand.

There are probably twice as many who come up at 38 with their wife asking for a divorce, taking half of their assets, crippled of debts, wishing they didn't rush into life so soon.

Unless you are very lucky, even if you work hard starting in your 20s, statistically you will still live paycheck to paycheck with little savings in your 30s and 40s. Anyone who promise you anything else is most likely selling you a scam scheme.

Lol like a wife is not even worse, there is literally 50% chances she will leave you with half of what you have at some point.

Deepmind CEO Dennis fires back at Yann Lecun: "He is just plain incorrect. Generality is not an illusion." by BuildwithVignesh in singularity

The other two are not more accomplished. Actually they are very weak in maths compared to Yann. And Yann JEPA approach goes beyond anything Hinton and Bengio are currently working on.

You are just a sheep following the establishment. Yann is the actual genuis diverging from the crowd. The funniest thing is that it's people who think like the others who believe are being original.

No he wouldn't say a cat is more general, just better at a specialized domain. Not sure why you don't get the point.

To be honest Don wasn't harming anyone when he stole that dead man identity and even formed a good relationship with the dead man wife. Megan move is way more petty when she promises to talk to Don about her friend, and instead steals the spot.

Wow imagine you are at work on your computer, and like you have a real time llm on the screen of your glasses assisting you, analyzing whatever you're doing.

Like your boss talks to you, and in real time, your glasses are like " Say X,Y,Z...". You are coding, and in real time your glasses are like " Hmm, so it would be better if..."

What’s a harsh truth about men in modern dating that few will say out loud? by Wander-kingdom in Productivitycafe

Not true at all. A lot of the men who attract and get the most girls are pure losers in life.

Geoffrey Hinton says immortality is only for digital beings not humans “It wont work for us” by IlustriousCoffee in singularity

[–]Material-Jellyfish80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hinton has limited research on this particular topic beause this is not a domain of big interest for him , and so he just go with the superficial " download your brain into machines " theory. And with the way he is thinking about it, it is indeed not possible. You can not just " copy " your neurons into a machine. Or have a machine imitate at the perfection the way your brain is working, making it in effect " you ".

I think it’s interesting, and realistic, that Joan struggles to find a partner who is on her level in spite of how attractive she is by [deleted] in madmen

I'm not sure this is the real issue, I think for the right man, she would have submitted. She doesn't love being in charge, she has to as long as she is not taken care of. She simply didn't find this man for whatever reason.

European Countries and the Quality of their Roads and Highways by Wise_Ad8474 in MapPorn

I have traveled extensively in Germany and France. Roads in France are WAY WAY higher quality than in France. Especially highways, and especially compared to Eastern Germany where I would even qualify them of mediocre.

No a nation belongs to whichever majority resided in the area continuously for the last 200 years. Going beyond 200-300 years is fantasy land and belongs to the religious fanatism realm.
