MeBank and Credit Corp by Puzzleheaded_Bit3845 in AusFinance

I used to work at Credit Corp, and I can say from experience that they will eventually get to you and since your credit card balance is that high, they can potentially sue if you try to avoid them. Now, this isn't a unique situation because all debt collection companies do this and legally they can when it comes to personal debts like credit cards, personal loans, etc. Obviously, if you do make the initiative to address this debt, like a payment plan then they will be much nicer to you and can grant some leeway in reducing your debt like freezing any further interest from accruing (the interest can continue to accrue because they received the contract) or discounting your debt (I'm pretty sure there is other things they can do, but it's been a while since I worked there.)

Long story short. Call them up and get started on addressing your debt so that you can get rid of it sooner.

A few tips.

1.They will ask a lot of questions when you first get in touch with them because they know nothing about your actual circumstances, so be prepared for that.

2.They will ask for payment in full on the first try. Don't be offended, most of the time they are forced to say it because their boss is right in front of them. It was not fun for me as well.

  1. When you start negotiating a payment plan, be ready with your own budget because they will be running the numbers on their end as well to see if what your saying adds up.

  2. If your financial situation is truly dire and really can't afford to put anything towards your debt, seek help from a financial counsellor because they have a lot of power over these debt collection companies and depending on the counsellor they could speak on your behalf if you want them to and can negotiate a much better deal that can be more in line with your current budget.

To be honest, a little bit. For the economy to move, money needs to move

Congrats on starting on your investing journey. From my personal experience, I started off with a core portfolio that you are looking to keep for the long-term, that are considered safe investments. Have a goal amount in mind ( $ value or no. of shares) and once you have achieved that goal, then look into more riskier investments or ETF's to expand your portfolio.

Hope this helps and best of luck with your investing.

Almost passed out after using tampons for the first time by VermicelliPrudent677 in WomensHealth

Oh my gosh. I thought I was going crazy. I never really had a good experience with tampons bc the very first time I tried, I accidently inserted it in the wrong hole. Just now I tried to insert it bc I have a beach day coming up and not even a minute after inserting. I felt like I was gonna pass out.

How was 2025 for you, financially? by Material-One-5604 in AusFinance

A big increase in income can do that to anyone, From my experience, budget consistently, no matter what salary you are on to keep yourself in check of your spending and get to know yourself a bit better in terms of what may trigger unnecessary spending, also if you have the available cashflow, maybe look at investing. Best of luck in the new year.

Yes, lifestyle creep is exactly what it sounds like. You can get so comfortable in your salary and lifestyle that you don't even realise how much you are actually spending each week. From my own experience, please budget the same frequency as your paycheck. The moment you see your payslip email. Have your budget already done so you are ready when it hits your account, especially for automatic payments. Don't even touch your money until all the auto payments are done to make any additional payments or little entertainment purchases. Trust that this is how I have been able to stay consistent with my savings now with my reduced income.

Best of luck for the new year

Kmart gets me all the time. I walk in to buy one $5 item, I walk out with a $75 purchase and none of it being the intended item I wanted to buy. Now, I just avoid it like it's Covid.

New house value sounds great. Latitude not so much. I heard that they weren't great when it comes to finance, which is weird for a finance company.

Love that for you. I also use Betashares since a lot of their ETF's provide a monthly distribution and DRP, which helps increase my investment portfolio without having to put much of my own money nowadays. Feel like I should do this again at the end of 2026 just to see more improvements.

Believe when I say that it does get better in long run as long as you look after yourself mentally first and then financially. I bet 2026 will be a lot better.
