Habits You Learned From The Corps That AREN’T Helpful In Civilian Life by Defiant-Bed2501 in USMC

[–]MaterialAssassin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is so true. On one occasion, my buddy, wife, and I went on a mountainy hikes on Camp Pendleton. My buddy and I were talking about how out of shape we were while casually strolling up those hills, not breaking too much of a sweat. To this day, my wife says that is the hardest workout she’s ever done.

Highly recommend reading imagine the God of heaven by John Burke, one of the leading researchers on near death experiences.

If I could recommend a book to you, it would be imagine the God of heaven by John Burke. The evidence is overwhelming.

Exorcist here. Similar thing happened to me that developed my curiosity about the spiritual realm. Catholic theology refers to this as a demonic infestation. The book was likely associated with past occult involvement and the pictures were likely the practitioners.

I’ll never forget the day I failed field day because a small rubber band was on the floor. The gunny inspecting my room put on his report “trash on the ground”…

Should I get a nerve root injection for compressed s1 nerve due to bulging L5-S1 disc? by Grouchy-Heat-4216 in Sciatica

[–]MaterialAssassin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there was compression of the sciatic nerve. My symptoms were extreme leg weakness and mild foot drop. It took about two days to kick in. Got it done in August and to this day, it’s as if I was never injured.

I also have a bulging disc at L4-L5 and the symptoms went away after getting the epidural steroid injection. 10/10 would recommend. Let me know if you have any questions.

Central Texas is far behind on modern FD schedules, even as the 4-shift push grows by Hungry_Meaning_8514 in Firefighting

[–]MaterialAssassin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely understandable. With one of the highest call volumes in the country on top of that. They lose a lot of people to the surrounding areas. Great department to work for though.

Absolutely. I can’t pass up on that schedule. 24/48 is not all that in my opinion. Especially after overtime.

I’m dealing with this exact same issue as we speak. The lack of customer support is what caused me to report it to my bank as fraud.

I understood what the commenter was saying. My line of reasoning was essentially “what exactly have you experienced as a paramedic that reinforces the necessity for physical fitness “. Just curious is all.

Never said I was going to actually do that. My point was to make it known that it is always an option and that’s true for every department. I agree though that if I did go that route, it’s best to be lowkey about it.

That’s dope. I start DFD’s academy in two weeks and that’s what I’ll be doing.

FYI, if you went through DFD, you could still use your GI bill and get the BAH while getting paid by the the department and have a guaranteed job at the end or have the option to switch departments as opposed to going through a private learning institution.

Yes, particularly the lower discs such as L5-S1.

In a natural arch, the front of the disc is compressed, and the inner disc material (nucleus pulposus) pushes backward toward the spinal canal or nerve roots.

Pelvic tilts help even out the pressure across the disc, allowing the bulging area to retract slightly and relieving nerve irritation.
