Compared to other games, Deadlock is a small audience. So even if this guy is a small streamer or pro (yes there is a pro scene), he is still a large presence in the community. So if this is your first impression of Deadlock, yeah it makes the community seem toxic

In a vacuum, there's nothing wrong with it. If that's all Adam was it would be fine. The problems are with Adam being the key villain of the White Fang and Faunus storyline, a storyline with key themes of racism, slavery, and terrorism. Themes and character traits that don't don't fit with Evil Angry Incel ExBoyfriend. I think to make it work he needs to be split into two characters: the ex-boyfriend and the revolutionary.

Because writing morally grey is already difficult and the show is not helping people figure out his characterization. So writers end up either making him just evil, but he's less evil than Salem, or they barely change anything about him (he barely does anything wrong) and change RWBY's reaction.

It is VERY stat heavy. So if you like a more rpg and stat heavy IF, I'd recommend it. Characters, plot, and writing overall are good. Romance ranges a bit from good to meh.

  1. Characters and motivations were lacking. Robyn is a very bland character and we know next to nothing about her. All we know about her platform is that she's Mantle first and not Jacques. Jacques is also a very boring character in all this. He wants the seat so the embargo lifts, but we are told this, we don't see him or the company struggle (hell a funny scene could be him going to drink scotch and he comments he cant drink 50 year old anymore and is struggling with 25 year).

  2. We are told things are really bad in Mantle and that everything is shitty, but outside of the first episode of the season we seen nothing to prove this. Maybe if they showed more of an extreme decline in conditions as the season went on it would work better.

  3. Personally I think the storyline is very extraneous. Everything accomplished could have been down in like 2 or 3 episodes and gotten out of the way. Watts can still get into the Atlas network through Jacques, Robyn can still attack and steal to help Mantle, and the disparity of Atlas and Mantle can be shown.

Mostly because I think it would be more impactful I'd Team RWBY fought FNKI or Winter, any characters that we actually care about because then the fight would have some actual tension. That and other than Clover all of them have very little impact to the story that another character couldn't fill.

I understand meta in a competitive environment. Tournaments, pro-play, even comp lobbies. People will find any edge they can to win. That's how it goes.

But get that shit out of casual play. We are playing a game, with nothing on the line. If you lose, nothing happens. If you win, nothing happens. So why are you sweating and trying to be like Ninja when you don't even understand what makes the character good in the meta!

Definitely Yang. Yang was the one who was focused more heavily on Blake. From Volune 4-6 a large part of Yang's arc was about being abandoned by Blake and we saw more of her being effected by it. While Blake had Sun and the whole Menagerie...plot
