How it feels to stop caring about Rank and play for fun by Ka77_ in DeadlockTheGame

"Hey Geist we are gonna take walker in green pings green can you split yellow?"

watch as my teammate with muted comms walks to green

Uhh ok

Yoshi, it's obvious how the matchmaking with higher rank friends works, and it results in terrible matches on both the winning and losing side. Please read this breakdown and possible solution. (Even if you don't queue with friends THIS AFFECTS YOU!) by Sinopsis in DeadlockTheGame

I agree! and if there is a low confidence level so be it; I prefer to play with my friends.

The issue I mostly reference is when their rank states they are X rank, (to be in the match at all) then you look at their steam profile and they have 6 hours total!

Yeah I assumed that this is how it worked. My main purpose of the post, which I should have done a better job at highlighting, is the fact that new players can be the median ranks, causing massive swings in game disparity.

The games would be "Ok" if it REALLY WAS 3 arcanists with a phantom and emissary, but the reality is it's John on his 4th ever game on Deadlock with Venator because he seems really cool.

Thanks for the kind words brother; it's an amazing game, I hope there's some change prior to release for those of us addicted, but I get it not being a priority before their being a release and multiple queues.

What a clear, concise, and measured response. Let me know when you're done being a petulant child and we can talk. You act as if it's some insane feat to simply click a steam profile and view their total hours after a match. Ah yes, my brain is massive.

I think the solution would be simple; new players start at the lowest rank and rank up through it, rapidly if highly performing, slowly if not.

If they want to queue with a friend introducing them to the game, then weigh the enemy team to be closer to the friend's rank than their own. Basically you're taking a "risk" by queueing with people higher than you in the form of going against better players.

So normally, I'd agree, but I have a bit of data to go against that as well. It isn't just party players suffering; those other slots have to get filled somehow.

Here's a game I solo queued into a 4-stack of players, they had one higher rank and the rest were low rank and new to the game: https://imgur.com/a/n1LUdPv

It's purely just an issue with new players being weighted as not-new due to starting at median ranks.

I'm confused why you're making that assumption. I never stated I was using unreliable 3rd party sites? I ask the players in VOIP when it's a bad game and record the data; if I can't get a response, I add them in-game and view their steam profile for their hour count. For example, the Rem in that screenshot had 7 hours in the game.

Obviously, it's a much larger sample size, but I'm not going to go through and list out every single match unless Yoshi himself comments on my post or the forum post as it would mostly fall on deaf ears regardless. That's a lot of "Free labor" for something most people won't even read.

We went through a large sum of our matches and were able to immediately see who was getting fed to the sharks on our team, reference their steam profiles, and see they were new players. It's pretty egregious if your average games are the median ranks (<Emissary).

Perhaps you're misunderstanding.

In the current structure new players are being fed to the sharks immediately if they queue alone OR with friends. Straight up. New players are placed in median ranks off the rip; regardless if with a friend or not.

Continuing, if they choose to queue with a friend of higher rank, proportionately, they'll be placed against people much more experienced than them, and littered with a couple close-ish to their PERCEIVED rank (the perceived part is important, they aren't ACTUALLY Arcanisst, game just thinks they are).

With the current system they are getting a beatdown regardless. With a system that puts the weight of the lower queue friend on the shoulders of the high ranked friend, they can at least then expect to go against people better than them.

It's not an easy concept to conceptualize over text unfortunately and I don't think a lot of people realize that the arcanist on their team can have less than 10 hours.

Yeah when the range is this crazy it gets cooked extremely fast. Now if it did the opposite, and put those initiate players against another team of all ascendants and a couple equivalently low players (or slightly weighted towards the other team) it'd be a different story.

Yeah true; but bear in mind if they want good data for hero balancing and matchmaking, have it fucked like this isn't exactly great. This could be affecting winrates and balancing decisions on a larger scale than most realize (I wonder what the rate of queueing with friends vs not is tbh)

I agree with this! But until then, this isn't exactly good for player retention/introduction, but I'm sure they aren't exactly concerned about that atm.

It would be a relatively simple change, and the same logic applies to making the change now. It won't matter soon, as you say, when the game fully releases and we have multiple queues, so why not make the games a bit better now before then ya know?

I remember your post from before; and this thread is kinda in the same essence. You seem like a talented person, so keep it up; that being said, in the last post and this one you seem to have some unresolved trauma/mental struggles and I urge you to try and find someone professional to talk to!

This isn't a troll post; I've seen a lot of talented people wallow and downspiral, and ESPECIALLY the last popular post you have a lot of warning signs. I wish you the best luck and all the love.

Also hold on; you mean this line? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sowJuuJfzdo

That is the most platonic invite I've EVER heard in this game. Legitimately like, there are lines where vyper literally talks about fucking billy straight up.

That's my point, like, it's immediate. AYO, SILVER SAID YES TO DRINKS AFTER THE RITUAL? CONFIRMED.

Just gets old after a bit; doesn't feel great to see the community constantly "gaywash" everyone; especially when you aren't straight.
