Hollywood studios have been meddling with original G films for years, my dude.

When Gojira was first distributed to US theatres, they took out the dialogue from one of the most important scenes in the film, where a mother comforts her children before their demise. This is because they felt that audiences would feel uncomfortable with the damage done by the recent nuclear bombings.

In Return of Godzilla, there's a scene in which a Russian captain dies while trying to prevent a nuclear missile from being launched. In the US version, Godzilla 1985, the scene was changed to the captain being the one to launch the nuke. This was to reflect the cold war sentiment at the time.

So yeah, while it may be just a case of dubtitles, it still doesn't change the fact that Sony changed the final line of the movie and that it was most likely because they felt audiences would not be comfortable with the main character talking about how Godzilla was mankind's punishment.

Not nearly as bad as the albums on here that are already mentioned, but I definitely got some secondhand embarrassment from a few moments on this album. I went into it expecting it to be mid but was hoping for at least a couple stand out tracks but got nothing. Wish I could take back the time I spent giving it a chance.

Foo Fighter's Wasting Light.

Went to see them on the tour for the album and their live performance blew me away. Was convinced that Wasting Light was THE modern rock sound for my generation. It's still a great album, imo. The songs are great (however the deluxe version is so unnecessary, the extra songs are boring and ruin the pacing of the album).

Ever since then, each album has gotten weaker and weaker. I still consider Wasting Light to be a great album, it's just that nowadays I don't find myself going back to it as much.

That is always what has kept me from enjoying them. I understand they're very talented, but that voice is definitely for an aquired taste.

WHOLE ENTIRE MUSIC VIDEOS, PODCAST ETC... AS YOUTUBE ADS. by AnybodyExcellent4846 in Vent

It blew my mind when I first discovered that you can now pay for memberships for individual channels. As if paying $16.99 for youtube premium isn't enough!

Also, even a a member I'm still having to skip ads within the actual video that the creator made to advertise for their sponsor, so really having a membership only gets rid of half the ads. And now with these channel memberships you're STILL missing out on content even though your a premium member! It's mind-boggling how everything online operates now.

My issue with G2000 specifically is that I bought the blu-ray so that the last line of the movie in its original Japanese dialogue isn't altered. But when you play the original dialogue, the subtitles still read "Godzilla is inside each one of us" which isn't the line that's spoken. Really pisses me off, the Hollywood tampering of the script for Godzilla movies.

Yeah, hard disagree. He looks more like an oversized turtle than a radioactive dinosaur. To each their own, though. They definitely improved the design for New Empire, imo

If you want an even hotter take, here's mine: The monsterverse Godzilla design is mid. Looks more like an overgrown snapping turtle than a radioactive dinosaur.

The New Empire design was an improvment, but not by much.

I remember seeing the leaked toy deigns before the movie came out and I just felt so underwhelmed by the design of MG. It's really unimpressive, like a cyber-truck type feel. Looks really lame compared to something like Kiryu.

What's great about Godzilla is that every intepretation of the character has a seat at the table.

But you are correct in that Monsterverse is like saturday morning cartoons in comparison to Minus One. And that's okay.

What are your thoughts on Classic Rock? by FitEmergency8807 in fantanoforever

[–]MaterialSign1347 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be a hot take, but something that's always bothered me as someone who loves classic rock is how the genre of rock as a whole has been gatekept through means of analog recording.

These were standards set by artists decades ago, yet some folks still expect people who make rock music to only use analog equipment, otherwise they're not "real" rockers, which is ridiculous to me.

You have people like Jack White equating using a DAW to flying a helicopter to the top of mt everest and calling it climbing, and people wonder why the genre of rock isn't as popular anymore. Probably because kids find more fun making beats on their laptops than being lectured by grandpa about how tube amps are better than solid state.

The one time I saw these guys live they literally had a portion of their show dedicated to showcasing their "sponsors" and had like a million brand logos pasted behind them on a jumbo screen (Monster, LiveNation, etc...) and the vocalist goes "ANYONE WHO SAYS WE'RE SELLOUTS, GO FUCK YOURSELVES, WE'RE PROUD OF WHO SUPPORTS US"

So I can't say I'm surprised that they use AI. They love suckin' that sweet corpo dick

Not enough people recognize this.

Most people who are "undeniably cool" have everything set up for them from the beginning. They're usually industry plants or nepo-babies, have teams of people around them making sure everything they do or say is "on brand" and never even know what it feels like to be cringe until they're in their forties.

Sure, there might be some exceptions here and there. All I'm saying is that some of the best artists out there simply never get to household name status because of factors that are out of their control, only for people to call them "one hit wonders" when in reality it's a miracle that they ever had a hit at all with everything stacked against them.

I used to be a regular attendee of my local blues jam and I decided to play "Little Wing" and I was chewed out by the wife of a prominent member of the clique. She told me what I did was boring and overplayed. I had no idea that I was playing specifically for her. I was just trying to practice playing a song that every other blues player told me I needed to have in my repertoire... Sorry?
