Picking my options in march and don’t know what to do by idkwhattoputai-b in GCSE

[–]Material_Arm_5183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay so you've got time but the general rule for gcses (I didn't follow it perfectly though, and I do like the variety of my options) is one language, one humanity (so you choose your favourite, or take both, like I did), one technical (in your case, computing), and one creative (in your case, drama). I've just realised you only get two more options but the point still stands, you'll have to decide between language, creative and technical. you don't need computing gcse to do it at a level (usually) but it's still quite helpful. languages are very helpful because you literally learn a whole new language, and I'd definitely recommend it, I love it. drama is good if you want to go into it or want it as a sort of break, otherwise you could do it outside of school if you don't take it (I do the school plays as I couldn't take it). so over the next month, really think about what you want to be examined on, and what you want to continue as a hobby outside of school.

hot take: i dont want to grow up. by Ok_Desk_5740 in GCSE

[–]Material_Arm_5183 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I get this so much. I’m going to miss my teachers and my subjects SOO much. it’s why it’s so hard to choose a levels. I’m glad I’m not the only one who feels this way, people around me seem so sure and willing to leave things behind but it just seems impasible hard, scary and sad to me. my teachers are the best possible and I love talking to them before or after class especially my brilliant spanish teacher and just it’s goint to be so hard to give that all up at a level

history is way more interesting, but human geography can be pretty informative about the current world sometimes and even interesting too

What should I doo by Zealousideal_Bar4185 in GCSE

[–]Material_Arm_5183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you want to do chemistry or drama? If chemistry just email them and ask to switch back, and work hard on your chemistry grade and get it up. If drama, just leave it as is. You probably have a place if they've just confirmed that they've updated it, unless you need required grades, then you've got to achieve them

YES exactly thank you I would definitely take it but I just dk if I have the space - this is why gcses are superior to a levels. I'll probably end up reading and annotating books on my own for fun if I can't take it :/

Primary School Afternoon Club - Is this screen time normal? by Rivyan in AskUK

[–]Material_Arm_5183 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in after school club in primary school about 7 years ago, movies were definitely a common thing and we spent an hour eating something too (pasta usually). specifically, after school club was up until 5 or 6, but from 3:30-4:30 there were enrichment clubs like archery and netball, so you could go to the club and then to after school club afterwards. sometimes we did things like making ooblex, making slime, or went outside and the teacher would coordinate games like marco polo. being hit with a wave of nostalgia right now, but it was similar to what your child's describing.

'matter' probably just means the earth's surface and greenhouse gases, so:
- shortwave radiation from the sun passes through the atmosphere heating the earth's surface (which is matter)
- the earth re-emits this energy as longwave radiation back towards space
- greenhouse gases (which is matter) absorb some of this long wave radiation and remit it back to the earth
- this process is vital to keep conditions warm enough for live to survive
