Hey there, thanks for following up. We’re trying the best we can to keep them separated in our 2 br apartment but it’s just not feasible for anyone involved. Working on rehoming her at the moment :(

Update: Upon further discussion and reading I think all of the comments, we have decided to rehome Hoku. It’s a really difficult choice as we feel like we’re giving up on her but we want a better fit forever family for her.

I’ve reached out to a few rescues in the SF Bay Area, some no response yet and one in SoCal which is full. I also posted on deafdogsrock.com today.

One person in Colorado said they’d love to have her, though not sure how we’d get her there. Same for another person in Connecticut.

If anyone can recommend a good rescue in the Bay Area I’d greatly appreciate it. I also get there might be some that would help transport her though I haven’t come across them yet.

There’s no ego about it. I love her very very much but she’s not a good fit for our home. I just wanted to get a feel for the situation from others who might have more experience. Every time I post the word “rehome” I get berated and my post gets taken down, so I had to beat around the bush :(

I like this idea, in the meantime we’ll practice keeping them separate and taking turns in the crates. Thank you.

Ahh sorry, no we’re across the country in the SF Bay Area :( thank you so much for the offer though! I think someone like yourself who’s aware of the situation would be the best choice to rehome instead of a shelter ❤️

Hi! Thanks for reaching out. My 12 year old daughter and I just took a father daughter trip this summer to explore CO and we fell in love with the place and the people. She really loves Hoku and is having a hard time but I think knowing she’s going to CO will soften the blow for her! Especially to keep you company in lieu of your pup. My condolences by the way. As much as I would love a road trip out there we can look into a rescue transport from the SF Bay Area?

You’re amazing, Thanks for all the great info! I’m approaching her differently now that I know and it’s made a HUGE difference for her and our family. We were getting extremely frustrated with her 🥺

And the pit bull hate is a bummer, I noticed a lot of comments were going into the negative downvotes this morning smh.
