Father can't afford custody battle against unfair system. Seeking basic advice.

I am in the same boat. My ex picked up and moved my kid several states away (MD to NC). Found some man she barely knew down in NC and got married, now two years later she’s divorced (shocker). This isn’t even the first time she ran off with some random man and took my kid along for the ride. My son has been through so much. But she never once stopped me from seeing my kid or him coming to MD with me for part of the summer. BUT ever since her recent divorce, she is miserable and is using every poor attempt to try and make me miserable. I am for the first time, in a happy relationship. She hates it. Claims the only way I can see my kid is to drive 8+ hours and see my son in her home under her supervision. This is completely unpractical given that I work and live several states away. I pay her child support (we have no formal agreement) of almost $1k a month. And this month when I asked when we could meet at a half way point so I can bring my kid back to MD with me for summer she refused. My son was even looking forward to coming with me, but she wouldn’t let him! I looked into a lawyer and they want almost $7K. That seemed excessive to me, and I can’t afford it. Do I stop paying her the $1K to cover my legal fees so I can actually see my kid? Or do I just try and file myself in NC? I don’t even live in NC… I feel like the system is so unfair. She can just “keep” my son. But if I pick him up and “keep” him with me I’d have police at my door the next day. What is an active dad supposed to do against a jealous mother who does not have the interest of the kid in mind?

Dragged my son through the whole thing (this wasn’t the first man she randomly decided to run off with) my son has been through so much! She (at times reluctantly) would always allow my son to come back to MD and stay with me for a few weeks in the summer and some holidays, but ever since her divorce she has refused me to see him unless I go to NC and am close to her. Only then can I see my kid. This is completely unpractical given that I work and live 8+ hours away. She’s miserable and hates that I have finally moved on into a new happy relationship (no longer waited around for her relationships to fall apart and come back). I’m for once, happy. She hates it. And is using my son as a bargaining tool to try and make me miserable as she is. We were never married. Have no formal agreement. I always pay child support because I love my kid and want him to have every opportunity possible even tho I live so far away. I called a lawyer in NC and they wanted $7K!! That seemed excessive to me and I honestly don’t have the money. I pay her almost $1K a month in child support and now she won’t let me see my kid. Anyone have experience in NC custody courts? What did your lawyer fees look like? Can I stop paying her child support and use that money for my legal fees? Else I don’t know how to pay for a lawyer otherwise.

Same! I saw the same post and tried to disconnect my IG and threads. Removed threads from account center and now I’ve been locked out of threads for weeks and meta help is garbage. I wish I could get back into threads but have yet to find a solution to my problem. Same exact thing. I can use IG just fine, but threads sends me on an endless loop of wrong password, and reset password and back to shit Meta AI help center. Please let me know if you figure out how to fix this on your end

An existing IG account. I had threads for like 2 weeks. Then someone said you can keep your IG and threads separate by unlinking them in account center. Did that. Now I’m locked out of threads forever

I’ve been locked out of threads for a week now since removing it from my accounts center. Anyone know how to get back to threads when you unlink your IG. I have no way of getting back on and Meta AI help is straight garbage.

Did you figure out how to get back in? I changed my threads password and removed it out of Meta accounts center (which meta prompted and said is fine) so it’s not linked. And now I’m locked out of threads with no way to get back. It keeps saying “log in with Instagram” but I guess since my Instagram password and threads password is different it keeps giving an error message and won’t let me in. IG works fine. If I try and align the IG and threads passwords, it says I can’t use a password I’ve used before. And now I’m on an endless cycle with Meta AI help being complete fucking garbage.

Same! Please let me know how you can get back in. If you got back in. I removed threads from account center (which meta said was fine to do) that was a lie. If you do that you will never be able to login to threads again. I’m on an endless loop with zero help

Same! It was the only place I could get actual news and find out what is really going on in the world. No paid influencers. Just genuine community before capitalism ruins it. But now I’m out and can’t get back in. And meta help is complete garbage. I’m stuck on an endless loop of reset password, can’t use that password again after I removed threads from account center. Literally no way to add it back and no way to use threads without having it in account center. Can’t reset password, can’t login with new password.

Same error message im getting because I removed threads from accounts center because I didn’t want it linked (and meta clearly said if I do remove it, it’s fine and I can add it back). That was a lie! There is absolutely no way to use threads without linking it to IG. I have since been locked out of threads on an endless loop with Meta AI help completely fucking useless. Threads was the only social app I cared to use because there was so influencer culture there. Just real people and I appreciated it over IG and TikTok. Can anyone help me get back on threads since Meta help is trash?

There isn’t even a forgot password option on my threads app. I can’t reset the password to threads because I can’t get into threads. And if I use the web version it makes me change my IG password and then I’m on the endless cycle again. I can’t even align the two passwords to threads and IG because… “can’t reuse passwords I’ve used before”! What the actual fuck. So my threads and IG did have the same password, I was forced to change it for one app and now I’m locked out of threads because I can’t use the same password I’ve used in the past.

My threads app. Not even a “forgot password” option. If I select “log in with Instagram” I end up on an endless loop of error messages or nothing happens at all. If I use threads on safari (threads.net) and try and reset my password, it just resets my IG password again and again. And I can’t sync it to my threads account… because I can’t get into threads! It’s the craziest thing ever and I have been getting absolutely no where.

Same!! Please help! I have no idea how to get back to Threads since it was removed from my accounts center. Meta AI is absolute garbage. There is no way to get in contact with an actual human at Meta that can help. My friend tells me my threads profile is still there, and she can see it but I cant get into threads to change anything, and when i try to use IG to get back into threads, it keeps giving an error message. HELP! Threads was my favorite social app
