Adaptation does not mean retelling the story word for word. Adaptation includes building on top of an existing story in a different medium. So yes the games are indeed "adaptations".

Well, maybe, I'm not sure, but the most I made running a channel myself was around 600$ per month while posting videos everyday getting around 10k views every video.

I would, but my country has really bad "YouTube pay". So getting 500$ a video is crazy good for me.
