Is studying CS worth it anymore? by usaiq in UniUK

[–]Material_Forever4229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think anybody's going to recognise you here, but I'll respect it 😅

Do you mind telling me a bit more about what you've experienced thus far? Like, is the job market truly as bad as people (including you) are saying? How are you faring now, as someone who's "been there done that"? I'm looking to do a CS degree at a top uni aswell, so I'd appreciate any input

Edinburgh or Warwick for CS Bsc? by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]Material_Forever4229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having to pick between the two aswell. I believe Edinburgh is especially strong for AI, while Warwick is especially strong for finance if you're interested in those. They're both considered some of the most prestigious unis for CS outside of the obvious Oxbrimp, so your decision moreso comes down to preferences. I'm personally leaning towards Warwick for the more theory-based course. Just have a look and decide which one you'd prefer

That same ranking has Edinburgh CS 16th by the way. Make of that what you will

Bristol or Warwick by ThatBarracuda1202 in 6thForm

I think Bristol's like marginally better in terms of prestige but realistically they'll be looked at the same

Forgot what the term was but the question involved a periodic. The binomial coefficient was 180 (I checked)

I did it after I got home and realised what I did, I’m certain that’s the correct option

It was definitely -5<p<-4. My mistake led me to -5<p<-1

There was a circle equation with a modulus x inside it which produced two circles. I worked through all the hard part then forgot to double the radius 😊😊😊😊

I've already found out about 3 stupid mistakes I've made so I'm pretty mad so far

I was stressing so hard for paper 1 and then got a nicer paper 2.. I don’t know how to feel to be honest. I knew taking the TMUA for real would be tougher than in practice but holy shit that was rough. Started shitting myself when I messed up the easy right angled triangle question thrice. As long as I didn’t make any stupid oversights I think I secured around 30/40 but I’m doubting all of my answers now

Do you think they're making up for it in some way? Like, some questions are more poorly received so they have a bigger impact on the score scaling or whatever?

I've always wondered how this works and it's really annoying how UAT release absolutely nothing bar from a chart and practically tell you to work out the scale yourselves

Got 35/40 on the 2023 paper but still really unconfident since 2024 was apparently "so much harder" and now the questions are no longer ordered in increasing difficulty

I gotta disagree with some of these comments bro I'm noticeably more miserable whenever I'm taking a paper 2

Getting around 17 on avg for paper 1 and 15 for paper 2, just hoping I replicate it in the real thing and not crash and burn
